*Stress the hell out of the plants at the end of flowering!! *

what wattage lights are you running in that setup?
This was a test run under a single Gavita 1650e LED fixture. Runs about 630w at the wall.

This picture is the first harvest I implemented the “Schwanze” method (might not be correct spelling) that the Three-a-Light guys use.

Stripped every fan leaf off of every branch except the top two at day 00 (day before flip) andagain at 21.

I was completely against this method before I tried it, I Understood fans as “solar panels”, which I now understand to be over simplified and even antiquated way of looking at cannabis.

well, it's not even that they're solar panels (collecting sun light), but it's also where the plant takes its nutrients and converts them into actual plant food

growers can definitely make up for the loss of fan leaves when doing shwazzing, but experienced growers that I've heard from about the subject say that's done by overwatting the lights

I'm only on my first grow so I took the safer method of leaving leaves on there for a buffer, and to help me spot deficiency issues, but not everyone needs (or wants) that. so I'll respect each person's grow style. you can't argue with results

hopefully I'll be able to experiment for myself in the next few years.

impressive grow btw

Have you done that exact same grow while leaving the leaves on/minor defoliation? Curious if you had better results from this technique.

Ansolutely, you have to go your own way with cannabis to fit your setup/strains/schedule. Do what works best for you.

and thank you, I’m currently running 4 of the 1650’s, flora flex irrigation, living bagged soil (Bio365) supplemented by Cyco nutrients and Urb microbes.

I owe everything I know to this website, I think my first two or three grows we’re documented here from 10years ago. Haven’t posted a grow in years but I’m thinking aboutstarting one with this next round in January.

I've talked with some very friendly people here. It's been a nice environment so far.

I may be doing a grow journal right along with you. I'm suspecting my current grow will wrap up by the end of this month. then a couple of weeks for the dry, clean up, and prep.

so I may be able to start mine by the end of next month. hope to see you there :)

Yes, better results.

Higher yield, better quality over all. The lower buds, usually larfy, were all shelf-quality. Im talking next-to-no popcorn. Easier to trim as well. This is now my standard practice.

Do you prune the sucker branches at all ever?

Your friend is right and wrong. Stressing the plant at the end, I mean the last week, even the last day in some techniques, before harvest can be a good thing. Depriving it if water the last week is a good thing. It sends a message to the plant that it's life is ending and in turn the plant tries desperately to save itself. It forces itself to use up all its nutrients and water and sends it to the buds. Which makes it more POTENT not BIGGER BUDS! Flushing does the same thing and is supposed to enhance the smokabilty (smoothness) of the Cannabis. Also, removing leaves in the last week before harvest is also not a big deal. I've done it weeks before harvest purely because I was combating mildew and needed some air flow throughout the plant. Don't touch the sugar leaves as that wouldn't be good for the plant and would be a total waste! Truth is, these methods aren't drastic. To give you more perspective on stressing your plant at harvest, check out stem splitting here:

There's so much still to learn!!

Someone's been reading 101 grandma's tales of growing, wtf does this hocus pocus shite come from?

Glad you're open minded enough to try it.

And here's something to think about and maybe would explain why defoliation works.
Inflorescence photosynthetic contribution to fitness releases Arabidopsis thaliana plants from trade-off constraints on early flowering

Hey bk78, it comes from education via experience. You might be a "well known member" (anyone who spews enough shite, often just to make themselves feel smart when in actuality they aren't, can be) but your comment shows what limited actual growing experience you have. True growers - no matter the species - take in information and deem it shite ONLY AFTER they have experienced it for themselves. P. S. Are you American? If so, you've got PLENTY to be embarrassed about so I wouldn't be chirping about Canadians if I were you. But it would explain your need to chirp in the first place! And if I'm guessing right, "bk" stands for "burger king" right?

I'm an idiot because I don't know the nationality of some troll on a website? You are the idiot for knowing in the first place and caring enough to respond. All of you are. I never left a message for ANY of YOU. GET OVER YOURSELVES! And if he is Canadian, he's a douche. Cheers!

Removing mall but the tops and a few fans is common practice and can produce bigger tops. This is not due to stress but less places for the plant to focus growth on. But by not watering he's just shortening the drying time when there finished. A plant cannot produce more material using less water, this is fact across all plant/animal life.

A person once told my son that he would grow bigger buds if he did 6/12. He swore by it. We all know you cut your light and you cut production.

Just because they grow doesn't mean they know wtf there doing. Some people just get lucky or talk a lot of shit and never have there own smoke
