Tent frame for utility, in grow room

Has anyone used a tent frame in a grow room, just to hang lights, mount net and fans, etc... I'm rebuilding my grow room, of which I used to use a 4x4 tent, and I have a slight dilemma. My ceiling fan blades might be in the way of hanging lights from the ceiling. If it does fit, it's going to be uncomfortably close.

It's a little flimsy without the skin, but I can probably zip tie the top posts, and mount pvc pipe, mid-point, for a scrog net

I once lost my corners when I sold my old tent to a mate, got replacements that didn't fit so lost an inch on the pole height, when the skin went over the thing wouldn't hold anything up because it was slack.

I wouldn't hang anything on a tent frame without a skin. I had to prop the thing up with wood. Luckily I found the old corners a week later and put it all right.

Last thing you want collapsing to the floor is your lighting.

You can buy frames just to hang lights and stuff, they are solid enough to hang on and do pull ups but not cheap.

Just get yourself to the wood yard and get out your saw and mitre block and build a full frame.

I would just take the fan blades off the ceiling fan first off. Then I would mount a stick of strut channel to the ceiling joists with some lag screws and hang my lights from that using the spring nuts and some eye bolts.

This has my vote, its easy. Lived in the south most of my life and we always hung ceiling fans in every room that didnt have them. I think I did my first one when I was like 13.
I think I'm just going to take my fan down, and put up a regular light, so I can hang the LED lights.

Grew up in Phoenix, where they teach ceiling fan installation in the fourth grade LOL!
So my question for you then is why is it still there? lmao
I helped with a lot of them, we moved a LOT, but my dad didnt let me do one by myself until around that age.

Well, it provides a lot of wind, and I thought it'd be useful. I'll just get some floor fans.

Yeah I think for what youre wanting to do thats your best move here. If it was like 3ft to the right it wouldnt be an issue, but it looks like its pretty much right in the middle.

I was running an 8x4' frame only for hanging my lights then the guy that gave me the tent needed it back so now going to have to rig something up. Don't want to be screwing up the popcorn ceiling in the spare bedroom. Might just put an ad up on Kijiji or Craigs and see if I can find someone who's tent has expired from age but would sell the frame for a few bux. Can always run some wire diagonally to add rigidity and a little duct tape on the corners to hold it together. The 8x4 worked fine on it's own for hanging shit on but had to be careful about banging into the uprights and popping a joint apart.

:peace:
