The America First foreign policy was a disaster.

You can skip my rant but the article from 2019 you should read.

It depleted the ranks of some of our finest government personnel. I'm referring to the staff at the State Dept. They are an asset ...or were anyway.

It demoralized our allies turning every agreement into a transactional one with a head of state that was irrational, ignorant of history, and a bloviated liar. Merkel made it clear the day after Helsinki, "We're on our own."

At the same time he severely damaged our intelligence services, siding with Putin.

Of course every transaction is an opportunity for Trump because it was never America First, it has always been Trump First. "Why should I give up a deal worth $300 million?" He should have been convicted and ejected by impeachment over the Ukraine scandal. As Molly McKew wrote in Politico in 2019, "In one gesture, Trump reduced the survival of Ukraine to a bargaining chip in an utterly petty pursuit; embroiled Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, in scandal and undercut his ability to defend the interests of his nation; and weakened the clout of U.S. leadership on Ukraine, the region and beyond. "

Putin wanted Trump to scrap NATO. He called Putin's suggestion to interrogate Ambassador McFaul an "interesting proposition." Recently at Mar-A-Lago he was talking about land and buildings, and territory and Putin walking in and just taking it. That is his first thought, the real estate!. The misery and barbaric deaths of actual people he uses as a political weapon, "So sad...but none of this would have happened under my administration.". Trump is today as short-sighted as he always has been. He never even tries to plan. He didn't have a plan for "The Wall". He stated he thought there would be a "healthcare plan on his desk" on his first day. He trusted the Chinese would stick to the bargain. They didn't and the tariffs didn't work but they did donate to corporate welfare. He now has his foot in his mouth because he's underestimated Biden and Biden's ability to successfully pull together the allies Trump alienated. So far we have a successful result with no boots on the ground while putting Putin in a pinned position and crushing Russia's economy. But Putin is the "Genius, and savvy" one, per Trump.

I've noticed no marauding bands of immigrant caravans filled with M-13 gang members lately. Is that because they don't dare defy Biden again? It must be so! That is the logic of Trump loyalists. It's a cartoon show.

It's hard to believe this article was written in 2019.:
