By comparison, the U.S. government has calculated that Mexican cartel chief El Chapo (Joaquin Guzman) made over $12 billion from his illegal drug trade, while the top Canadian growers have cumulatively lost $1.4 billion, said Kirk

The government is more tied into the BM down there. You gotta remember Mexico is a lot less corrupt than Canada. If you have a problem with police you just gotta hand over like fifty bucks.

In Canada at the legal store you can buy cannabis for $4.97 cnd a gram in the Netherlands prices start at 10 euros a gram. FYI 10 euros is 14.50 cnd!

Its called legal competition and I LOVE it cheaper weed is a good thing! Who gives a shit if the stockholders and the criminals who grew it for profit pay the price? I don't!

What I've read in Mexico you can get someone killed for twenty bucks.
The Mexican government has so far not commented on the statistics. ... recent years, roughly 4 out of every 5 homicide cases still go unsolved.

FWIW there may be something listed at $4.97(I haven't heard or seen such a thing) but I doubt they would stock it. Most I've seen is around $8+ Canadian with some as high as almost$20/gram

prob not the best comparison....corruption is corruption....
We don't have a massive cartel issue that has caused WELL over 100k murders. I actually believe it's closer to 200k now. We also don't have the same cartels dismembering those murdered or hanging them by the half dozen from overpasses. Oh, let's not forget all the cartel owned resorts. To say corruption is corruption is akin to saying weed is weed or a car is a car.

I was kind of being sarcastic. Sometimes weed is a car too. Henry Ford was trying to do the same thing as Cheech and Chong.

prohibition is the largest bane to society as a whole that there is...it causes untold amounts of grief ...leaving shelled out corpses in its wake...
where as in a prohibition free society, those that feel the need to use a drug or anesthetic to cope with their existence ...are free to do so... and then take the burden away from the taxpayer and society as a whole ,including the law and police, as to their drug use. In places where there is currently no prohibition ........
The tax and healthcare savings alone...were upwards of 75 percent of the total budgets. This has also freed up so much cash that these countries have been able to funnel a shit ton of cash into rehab's for willing participants ....as well as making homelessness non existent for the most part.
They have found by making support available to those who are actively seeking to quit. their DOC...is successful 98 percent of the time.
These people are also staying clean.
So with all of the abundant info on a cure for prohibition....why do 1st world countries continue to persecute people for doing drugs whether it be for self medication or just recreational use.
All I can see is that the legal and penal system is huge money.....for those who operate it....and they would hate to see 75 percent of their current"doing time" market disappearing instantly ....as the prohibition of all drugs and substances is lifted...
It would also remove all of the low hanging fruit charges that the police currently count on for keeping such a large police force continuing to expand year over year ....never getting evened out or even declining ever.....regardless of the crime stat's....
