is because if your palnts gets more light it also eats more food away so the leaves tend to get more bright where this currently happens... it's one basic beginners mistake to identify deficiencies as light bleaching... esp. HPS light has a very good penetration factor - as it carries alot of yellow spectrum which penetrates the initial leaf.
I've grown in summer under a 600w HPS and not even at 30cm distance directly from the lamp would the leaves bleach... not at all.
