It’s under reported. This fella is looking at 15 years no offer of diversion. Seems steep and unfair for someone who needs weed to get by. Public outrage could do a lot in his case which, in turn could set a good precedent for future cases. That’s why I humbly ask you to share this story. Feel free not to if you don’t care to.

He didn't play by the rules.
He couldn’t take care of his needs by playing by the rules. He needed more than the rules allowed and couldnt afford to buy it from the medical marijuana system on his disability check. If a patient can’t get relief by playing by the rules then the system is broken and needs to be fixed. Not everyone can grow inside. Bunk warrant and no probable cause means the authorities didn’t play by the rules either.

And yet we still get people in here saying that it doesn't matter if you don't strictly stick to plant limits. Police are desperate to put cannabis growers in prison, doesn't matter if you're paralyzed or 90 years old. Of course this is a terrible, tragic situation, but it's all too common in the USA, so PROTECT YOURSELF and don't let this happen to you.

He let his card lapse which then put him in rec not med. If he kept his card up to date I believe it's 12 plants for med.

It’s 2 mature plants 7 immature for Med. 2 mature 6 immature for rec in Vermont. I believe that is stated in the article. 2 plants is not enough for that guys whole year. In Vermont if it’s in flower it counts as mature.

You're right about the plant count don't know why 12was in my head....did that change when we went rec? But really if the guy has been doing it for as long as he was and had a caregiver they could have figured it out by now. And to live nextdoor to the town hall he should have thought about that. I don't agree with how they obtained the warrant.

I'm confused. Should I have feelings because he's paralyzed or because he was dumb enough not only to grow illegal amounts of weed, but to place it where it could be seen from the street? "Seen from the street". Did he think he would harvest them? lol
IMO if you're going to be mad, be mad at the dude who's giving home growers a bad reputation for blatantly not following the law. The fact that he had a med card and it's legal for rec use in his state makes him a double asshole in my book. People fail to realize this can be regulated away from us at the drop of a hat.
Also, my guess is that this dude gets off with a fine (or less) like the previous case mentioned in the story.

I've seen my share of wtf stories like the 76yr old lady getting raided for a single plant because it was near a window, that made me angry. This isn't one of those for me. Call me an asshole if ya want. I. Don't. Care. :eyesmoke:

Being 76 must be much harder than being paralyzed from the chest down. For me this comes down to the letter of the law vs the intent of the law. Is the intent of the law to take away this mans cannabis that makes him feel better? I hope not.
I wouldn’t call you an asshole for your opinion. I guess people on this site have a differing opinion from most smokers I know. In my eyes it’s a plant, it never should have been “regulated away from us” to begin with.

Do plants in veg count as mature, or do they need to be in flower to be considered as mature under the local laws?

I think there are ways he could have gone about it, and still do it lawfully. That many plants within rock throwing distance of City Hall AND
visible from the street is just a dumb act of desperation. I feel for the guy in his situation being immobile from the chest down, but he had to have considered the consequences before going so over the limit. He could have done it the right way, and in that time get his situation fixed.
In the end however I think the law may win. Seeing the plants from the street gives probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the property I'm almost positive. Probable cause is what fucks a lot of ppl over, and lands them in deep shit.
If the guy has the funds to grow out 15 plants at a time, then he should be good to go on renewing the medical license imo.
I hope they take it easy on him tho. I hate seeing people get pinched, then completely FUCKED over some weed.

2 plants is plenty to get you through. just grow them big.

I also feel we should follow the rules. it only takes 1 asshole to mess up a good thing.

I have a vermont friend who grows his 2 outside in massive scrog nets. he can survive many a cold winter

the scariest part of someone having a visible grow from the street is that it invite some crazy people
. it should have been hidden from view, to us its medicine to some its drug money. could have been a potential robbery, that now mixes violence with cannabis. fk him lock it away next time.

Jimmy Carter (39th President of the United States) quote on Marijuana - “Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself . A swat team with children around makes no sense.

you guys don't get it. these guys clearly could have grown their allotment out of view from the road. how hard is it to follow rules , would you have a different point of view if he wasn't disabled? he could have followed simple rules, allowing to grow at your home isn't prohibition its to prevent people from becoming large scale drug operations. anyone should be able to supply themselves with only a handful of plants
if you want go grow a warehouse for legal grows it would need to be locked and have security, he was just dumb and makes us in turn look stupid. jeez for some activists on a site I'm surprised your so dim.

you must be in the "masks don't work group"
