Trim while flowering?

Ok to be clear, this plant is just starting to flower and she is outdoors; in this area we have atleast 80 days until frost sets in.

She has gotten a bit out of hand on me. Between 7' - 8' tall and about 5' around. I would like to trim/lollipop some more. Can I get away with it?

I feel once the budding sets in heavy she will be to much to keep up with. Am I just over thinking this? What would happen if I topped some of the taller branches? Bad idea probably.

Firstly, very nice plant. I'd love to be able to grow proper bushes outdoors like that one day.

Anyways so what do you mean by "once the budding sets she will be too much to keep up with"? Once budding has set she'll be mostly finished her stretch then you basically dont have to do much until harvest. Just sit back and watch your buds fatten up...much less work than other phases of growth anyways. So I don't think anything will get out of hand so that you can't keep up with it.

So personally I would just leave it.

I wouldn't go cutting tops once flowing has started. And cutting stuff from below or "lollipopping" isn't going to do anything to change the size of the bush...which seems to be the problem since you mention how tall and wide it is, saying it got out of hand. It just is what it is now. And you've already got a nice space under it so airflow is going to be fine as is. So just go with it...

I usually just get rid of the inferior branches near the bottom. Sometimes I take the tip of the developing cola to make the flowers look a little fatter.

The fan leaves should probably be left alone at this point if they are not diseased.

I guess I was having an internal debate on the lower branches being hard to support once the buds pack on weight. I was debating trim vs trellis. I suppose I will have to add another layer of trellis to the top anyways so I'll have to figure something out for these side branches that don't fit in the trellis.

Yeah I prune through flower no issue. Snip away lower clone branches or you'll just be dealing with popcorn and scraggly nugs later.

I dont see alot of bottom junk, but I would cut out the bullshit on the bottom that isnt going to produce much.. by removing the bullshit it will put that energy into the upper parts..
Nice plant by they
