Hello fellow HP Aero geeks!! :weed:

I'm finally getting close to finishing my Flojet + Accum control module.
Unfortunately I am running into pressure and pump control issues that are confusing me and could use some advice.

Edit: Just found out that the Relief valve spring wasn't applying any pressure. (Wtf?) So I am going to get a small #10 bolt and thread it to adjust the relief pressure. We'll see how that goes...

Anyone know about how long it should take to fully charge a 2 gal accumulator?

My pump has a flow rate of 1.6gal/Min so I figure if pressure isn't achieved within ~1min, then the tank isn't full.
But a 2gal tank shouldn't have more than a 1.6gal drawdown, right?

This is really frustrating me. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! :grin:

exciting area of growing! I wouldn't be this far without meticulously reading and re-reading your threads!
A 2gal tank should hold somewhere around .25 gallons-.5 gallons (depending on the pressure charged to). It'll fill up under one minute and you should use a pressure switch to do all the work for you...

im currently playing with a air atomizing system and a high pressure cloner. the cloner isnt done yet as i need 1/4 inch john guest tees to finish it but heres my diagram.

why do you have a check valve between your regulator and solenoid? maybe im missing something but it doesnt seem nessisary. just another thing to mess up

Had the same issue with a built in pressure switch get a stand alone pressure switch just make sure it has stainless internals.

Thanks for sharing your diagram. I think we need more of these because its a great way for everyone to learn something.

I believe I initially put the check valve after the regulator in case of fluid hammer...just like a safety precaution, but as I have no experience I don't know if it would actually help or if its needed at all. Maybe someone can chime in give us their thoughts.

opps didnt think of that, i dont have a pressure switch as im the pump so water hammer from the solenoid closing doesnt effect me
i remember cavedage, or was it mike young, saying it helped suppress the water hammer in there system, and there pump didnt short cycle.

Just a quick question. How do the solenoid(s) work on a pressure fed air atomized system? Do you have to use separate solenoids for the water and air?

I'm about to finish up my pump/accum setup, but I've been wondering if anyone has been able to source
12v Solenoids that are either 1/4" QC or NPT threaded? I haven't been able to find anything looking like what I want.
Also, anyone know a source of a good/simple 12v recycle timer? I am not very electronically inclined (IE stupid as f00k)
in terms of wiring my own.

hey oxanaca, thanks for the link. That timer looks pretty bad ass, and for $47...the only thing that confuses me is that under the "time ranges" it says 1 to 10 sec/min/hours. Are you sure it goes down to 0.1 sec? Not that I would necessarily go under 1 sec...but just in case that 1 sec burst is just too much :D

as far the timer settings. it has 2 different settings for seconds:
one second mode: in this mode you can turn the dial and select different fractions of a second. ie:0.1 second or 0.6 seconds
ten second mode: in this mode you turn the dial to select different hole seconds such as 1 second or 6 seconds.

Is there a post that summarizes Trichy's current configuration? This is a very long thread, and I don't want to copy his designs from pages 1-4 only to find out it was modified around 224 :). Thank you!

Use a large container and use at least a 6-12 inch net pot (depending on the size plant) with medium. Large net pot is the key. Any mist head will work as long as its 50-80 micron spray to hit the roots when they exit the net pot. You will also need a dripper to feed the plant until you see roots exiting the net pots. This thread is dead.. The problem without using large net pots the center of root mass will not get spray and then root rot sets in. Everyone moved on to other things in life thinking of revisiting this in the future. Good luck.
