two 600w hps or single 1000w in a 5x5 tent?

I'm going to be honest I've searched the forums and scrolled through the pages but still haven't received a solid answer, here is the question I'm in need of an answer to. I have a 5x5 secret jardin tent for flower and can not make a decision to either use 2 600w lights in hoods or a single 1000w light, any help would be greatly appreciated. Also what is the ventalion setup that I should go with for the more desirable setup?

Is your electricity bill worth another 50 to 100 grams every harvest eh how would I know but in that scenario I'd go with the ease of temp control, so my votes the 1k watt less expenses all around, and for venting that, well I'm not sure where you've got access to fresh air, but for the good old jardin I'd get a carbon filter on one side of your hopefully aircooled hood attached with some ducting and a 6 inch inline on the other side sucking the hot air out your room also attached to that hood and an intake hole or cheap fan at the bottom with some fans for even coverage and you should be set man

I am also looking to get a set up kind of like this. i currently have a 2X4X6 cabinet that has a small 17" high chamber for cloning. would it be good for me to spend money on another set up plus this one. use the 17" chamber for cloning the other part of the cabinet for veg and the tent for flowering?

Honestly I thought that might be the easier way to go but wasn't sure, I was thinking about spending a lil extra and getting an 8' air cooled hood with an inline 8in filter and running an 6in inline for an intake fan...does that sound about right for cooling?

I ran a 1000w in a Secret Jardin 5X5 and did very well with it. Last harvest I pulled 23zs off of 4 NL5 plants (flipped to flower after 5 weeks from cracking the seed). Then I tried to go to 2 600w in that tent and had all kinds of heat problems. So I went back to 1000w. I believe the heat problem with 2 600s can be solved, but... it'll take some work and cash to figure that one out. Don't run your filter off your lights. You will have to run a separate fan for that and use the 8" on just your lights, pulling air across them from outside the tent. If that air is not cool enough then even the 8" fan won't help you...

Old thread but have found it so many times using google and maybe it will help someone else too.
If two 600w lights were used would you use two HPS? or a HPS and MH?

I have two 5x5 tents with matching block buster reflectors and Galaxy AMP 400-600-1000 ballasts.

I was wanting to try both reflectors in one tent and see if it beats the 1000 for the added cost of electric.

For that space 1k with an air cooled hood. Best case scenario, would be to have a room outside the tent that is cool and does not smell of the product.

That would enable you to push the air past the light/s without a filter slowing the flow.

This hot air would be exhausted out of the building.

Having an Ozone Generator outside the tent would keep that air odorless.

I'm looking to do the exact same thing in a scrog in air cooled hoods. Right now I am vegging under a single 1k bulb but plan to switch to 2 600s once I flip the lights.

Well, if you do that change peak into those datasheets to make sure you'll end up with more PAR. A high qual 1000w DE can match 2 600W SE and have less required hardware parts to deal with. But many 600er can be scooped up fairly cheap, light is a bit better spread/x-lighting, a tad more flexibility (like vegging under 600w only), plus less min height required...

I absolutely replied to a seven year old thread. With full intention. A thread already existed and was accessible by google search. But it's hard to find a grow journal who actually had this exact setup. I even searched the the forums and hand picked the one I wanted to reply too. Looks like I'm going to have to do it my darn self and post the results.
