Understanding S1’s and F1’s

If I was doing this project, I would reverse the CBD plant that is less desirable and take that pollen (making the less desirable plant the male) and pollenate the CBD plant that is more desirable.

I would take those seeds and pop them to grow out the R1 generation. In that generation I would choose the one(s) that seem the closest to what you are looking for in terms of traits that the good CBD plant has. once that plant is found I would reverse it and back cross it with the original good CBD female parent to make the seeds that result from that cross RBX1 (the first reverse back cross to the mom/genetics you’re trying to stabilize into seed)

then pop those RBX1 seeds and find the one closest to what you’re looking for again and reverse her and back cross it to the same good CBD mom as before...
after that you should have around 90% expression of the parent you backcrossed to successively. You could do it again, but I think 2-3 is enough

But you could do so much that’s why breeding to me is so fun lol... you could take the first R1 and then find two you like in those R1 seeds you pop and reverse one and cross it with its sibling to make and R2 and then hunt within those seeds and self/S1 one you like, then reverse it and back cross it to the mom... god so many interesting possibilities!
Good luck! Share results!
When you say reverse back do you mean your finding a female that you like and your forcing her to hermie? Are you using colloidal silver or stress?

Do s1s give off different phenos? Even if i foumd only 4 seeds off more than an oz ??
Depends on the stability of the plant you are selfing

If the plant is heterozygous in traits, meaning there are many not being expressed/hidden/recessive in the genetics then yes the S1 will have a variation of mixtures of the non expressed traits.

if you take something that has been stabilized and made homogenous, meaning that the traits Are pretty much the same every time/generation, then no the S1 will have little variation and express close to the selfed mother

if you get a scenario where you get lots of variation, you can always choose the best plant and reverse it back into the mother to make a reverse back cross, this will give you seeds resulting in around 80% expression of the mom, and variation in the other 20%...do this again and the resulting generation will be closer to 90% like the mom, and again and you’ll have an almost identical expression of the mom

yes,a rbx reverse back cross involves Working with fem seeds and reversing a plant and taking that pollen and pollenating the mother.

CS

don’t use a plant that hermies for stress unless you want to have that trait carry over into their progeny

How do you reverse it back?

More effective than CS
Thanks....could I take clones of desired plants and flower them in solo cups under a t5 and apply this and collect the pollen since im not trying to achieve flowers?

Taking clones is how I do it. 2 clones. Reverse one, collect the pollen, and pollinate the flowers on the other. The plants don't have to be big. I usually use 1.5 liter pots and small plants.
