UV, IR, How much, for how long?

I would like to add some "terpene enhancement" to my light bars. I just don't know what chips to get and how hard to run them. I'd rather not roast my ladies in an attempt at making them stronger.
I'm sure some of you have learned the hard way. Any chance I can learn from your mistakes?
I'll be covering areas of 3,4, and 5 square feet.

How are you adding the UVA/UVB, IR, deep red, and far red? What chips? How much power? At what distance to the canopy?

I tried reptile lights last 2 weeks only and didn't notice any unusual potency. This time I'm starting at week 5. I think it needs to be when the flowers are still developing rather than when they're already mostly fully grown. The study I read where potency increased 30% was for the last 40 days of growth. Maybe that's about how long it takes, 5 weeks is close enough.

Reptile bulbs are NOT what you use. The only bulb worth using is AgroMaxs T5 PURE UV bulb with 25%UVA & 75% UvB.

Still the CFLs should work at close range, and I've read posts from others who have had success with them. Granted I used the 150s instead of the 200s but it still should be enough. I just think it takes longer than 2 weeks. I'm also not using them for the last few days before chop, because UV also degrades THC/THCA so I want the plants to react to the UV they already got and produce more THC without any of it getting degraded for the last few days.

This is what I use. It provides uva and uvb at up to four feet away. I use it from start to finish.

On a side note, I didn't have to harden my tomatoes off I started under them.

This has been tested by @RM3. The reptile bulbs don't cut it and I agree.

There are no UV led. There are but they cost too much. A single 2 or 4 foot t5 fixture is cheap.

Has anyone tested COBs+UV, FR for emerson, and FR/IR for faster hormone conversion at night? I would like to see the results. I keep thinking about the cob spectrum, reading the manufacturers claims of spectrum being trumped by total photons, and just feeling like this needs more experimentation. RM3 has shown that quality can certainly be affected... at least in my eyes. What about with cobs? Has anyone seen this sort of tangible difference with targeted spectrum additions?

I have also been looking into LEC technology for its UV and FR content. I have a few questions while trying to process some of this information...

1. Am I correct in the assumption that the faster maturation is a result of the plants "thinking" nights are longer due to faster conversion from PFR to PR? and is this a response to FR, or IR?

2. Is the emerson effect adding a blended ratio of R + FR = increased photosynthesis? Or is this oversimplification? I would love to hear ratios and specific wavelengths.

3. What sort of coverage would a single Agromax 4' UVB bulb have, based on anyone's experience using them?

4. What viable sources of FR and IR are available?

5. Is there any comparison between LEC UV and FR emissions and the alternatives?

At 3 ft a single Agromax tube should cover 12 sq.ft. Any closer and the radiation will be too intense. The "night response" is to far red (730 nm). You can buy buy bulbs that use regular light sockets, ready-made LED units, or you can buy the chips and driver to make your own far red LED units. The LEC's put out UVA but not UVB.

one can supplement a white phosphor led to your hearts content with UVB, UVA, Deep Red, and Far Red in the same way that a bunch of T5HOs can be enhanced with specialized aquarium tubes or mono leds. (notice how I ignore IR over 800 nm :bigjoint:)

I don't have any data, but I can say the plants are going to sleep faster and maturing faster with the FR. The IR does improve production, and the DR is good for growth, creates some stretching. peace

Is it needed?....I am not saying it is Not.....and someone will tell me what a fuktard I am, but as many papers with Actual data being recorded as I come across, just as many point to variable in simple things like soil mix.

Does uv/uvb increase terp profiles to begin with. I have used light sources w/UVB and and without UVB.... and in the absence of recorded Data, it would be impossible to guess and might even lean towards a more satisfying smoke without UVB [ the led's always get compliments] or is it merely strain dependent?

Food for thought I guess. Someone will disagree and thats fine.
