im really sold on watering and feeding from the bottom in a tray now, the plant and soil soak up the exact amount it needs, it's like magic. can you water that 10gal like that? you should try it, you'll love it.

When I grew with Vermont Fort Vee and 20% perlite in 5gal fabric pots for the last 4 weeks, they would only take about 2–2.5L before running out the bottom. Watered every other day and fought the gnats all the way. I imagine watering more—like 1/4 the volume of the pot would have made it worse ‍♂

I am going to try 10 gallon pots next grow. I am not going to expect it will hold 2&1/2 gallons of water a pot though lol

The main part of watering is letting the soil dry in between waterings, the roots need air. Underwatering is no good, especially on the top layer of soil which will draw bugs. Water hard, dry long, til the pot or bucket is light weight.
