Watering

Hi,
i seem to never get the watering time right... over water, under water and all of the above :C how often should i water my plants? I looked around ALOT picking up and feeling the weight, well im having a really hard time and the finger test well its like i can't feel if its moist or not?! Should i use a toothpick like when backing a cake? Thank you for your time :) oh and im growing in MG for germination no npk just peat and perlite and some 20-20-20 all purpose nutriments.

MG...setup for failure. When to water depends on a lot of factors. The larger your plant gets the more water it will want and more often. Seedling and rooted clone I need to water about once a week, early veg about twice a week and after that every 2 days or my plants will get droopy on the 3rd day. As I am sure you have read you want to water once the soil dries out but not too dry. Time and experience is your best way to learn when to water.

Well not really, did a wick system with mg and it work really good but its giving manually water that is hard :/ i dont get it

Water when the medium is dry, so if u can put your finger in it and it's dry give it some water.
As for the amount I use about 600ml per 7.5L pot and 2L per 15L pot.
If your pots are smaller again just give like 200ml water and see how they go.
You can always add more water but you can't remove it in a hurry

I put my finger in soil if it's wet up to knuckle then leave alone . I pre water my containers two days before poting then mayb go a week depending on temp befor watering again , and I only water around the plant mayb the size of a solo cup ... When in doubt wait another 12 hours or next day ... I use happy frog and ocean forest and big chunky perlite so I got a good mix .. My 9 inch square containers r 2.5 gal roughly and first time water takes a lot but usually after that 1/2 gal ISH USUSLLY DOES IT . For me anyway but I watch more then my wet knuckle

When the first few inches of soil dry out, as other posters have mentioned stick your finger into the root substrate three digits deep (roughly three inches), water as soon as it becomes dry and then repeat... simple.

Water the entire container evenly as possible until you see a decent runoff

I like to go by weight after about a week since my last watering

1: I lift pot estimate water used,

2: and simply replace

in most cases, its about 10-20% of the pot volume

with 10% of that running out to the tray in 20 minutes

but as intenseneal advises and I agree MG is shit, way too much peat, that holds water and ur shitty nutes

leading to a lot of nute burn once this issues is solved

imo/= Fox Farm Ocean Forest with 20% perlite is a good replacement

good luck
