Where to go from here(making RSO)?

So i was attempting to make RSO, made my quick wash with decarbed bud, 1 oz to 2 cups 190 Everclear. It evaporated at room temp with a ceiling fan from Sunday to today with just traces of moisture on the surface. It's not an Oil. It doesn't move if tipped upside down. Do i need to reheat this now to melt and than transfer to a container for storage? Just not sure what I'm supposed to do since it didn't finalize to oil. 20221024_202539.jpg

I think most people that make actual RSO use a coffee cup warmer to get it warm enough to suck up with a syringe for storage. You can heat it up and mix it with MCT oil to get a smoother product and tame the potency to make dosing easier. I evaporate my Green Dragon down to about 1/4 the volume of extracted alcohol and then store it as alcohol tincture in the freezer. It takes about 10-15 drops at that strength for the full effect and about 7-10 for my wife. It goes in just about anything you want to drink and you can add it to edibles as well.

Used 1 oz Forgotten Cookies to 2 cups 190 EC. 3x 1 min shakes of decarb at 250f for 30 min. 1 min freeer sit after each shake. 6 min total. Alcohol eveped from Sunday last week to today when it looked like the top pic. Heated at 200f for 5 min to get it in the jars after rolling as equal 2 balls as i could(it was sticky). Got back 3.61 grams for 12.85% return. Pretty good since 10% is the average. Kinda just reminds me of regular Rosin from flowers/hash.

May I clarify what you mean by RSO? Originally RSO was oil extracted using Rick Simpson's technique, which was a naphtha extraction, reduced in a rice cooker, and taken orally.

He added Isopropyl extraction later, but not ethanol, so I'm going to call your cold ethanol extraction a Quick Wash EThanol or QWET.

You can simply heat the concentrate and it will turn into a syrup that can be poured or sucked into a syringe.

What else you do with it depends on what you intend to use the concentrate for.

If I'm doing open evaporation in a Pyrex casserole dish, I place bamboo skewers across it and cover it with a towel to keep dust and pet hair out. The skewers keep the towel from sagging into the concentrate.
I started using the steel mesh i bought for sifting recently and it does a great job because i have a fan blasting at the pyrex. Keeps dust off and lets fumes out.

I agree with @Fadedawg what you are making is QWET not RSO. Also you should freeze the everclear and weed first overnight, then mix, shake, blah blah. Lots of tutorials out there. If you are making it often look into an alcohol extraction device like the ExtractCraft. Just letting the ec evaporate off is alcohol abuse, make a drink. Seriously saves money in the long run.

I kinda hate super low temps because it turns into syrup and drains slow, resulting in longer soaks. Fine line, in my opinion.

Oh I didn’t think about it soaking longer because the drain is slower, but the vacuum on the extractcraft can be used with a funnel to very quickly strain the ec from the weed, like in seconds. No longer a problem and saves time too.

That’s dope. My solution was prescreening through cheesecloth to filter out majority of solids and then hit it with the mesh, but i had better luck freezing alcohol and using room temp biomass with coffee filters. It’s such a sensitive process. Aggravating at times.

The Büchner funnel definitely helps with quick filtration, and you can get all kinds of mesh sizes. Makes one step of the process easier anyhow.

Damn, of course I can;t find it , but there used to be a nice video by a guy callled Green Maseratti on YT that showed how to make an easy dewinteriser using a bucket with a lid, a bottle and a vacuum cleaner...
