Who else uses a desktop vaporizer to medicate?

So I bought a SSV (Silver Surfer Vaporizer), about 8 ago. It was a little different at first but now I love it. I don't even ever turn it off anymore, so it's always ready. My lungs are much happier with me too. I don't use the hose. I just put the wand straight to my mouth and use the vape like a lighter. It's called direct draw or something I think. Just curious how many of you guys are using them and your methods.

I brought a relatively cheap desktop vaporizer and was surprised at the quality/functionality. Preferred using the desktop over smoking or the mobile handheld vaporizer when there was nothing of urgency . Found my desktop (No brand name desktop.) requires a lot more herb to get desired effect, as well as a period for heating up that exceeds the portable vaporizer (Vie vaporizer) I now use primarily. Although I brought the cheapest desktop available, I did enjoy using it and I am planning on getting a volcano in the near future. Vaporization is considerably healthier for the lungs and the high was more versatile between various strains, the vaporization experience definitely made me reduce smoking to a minimum. But I still enjoy the rare blunt every so often.

Just saw this thread and wanted to put in a good word for the Arizer Extreme Q, which my wife and I have been using for about five years now, I think. It is not too expensive and you can use it with a whip or a balloon. One of these days we plan to buy a Volcano, but for now the Arizer is good enough.

I had a volcano but vaps always leave me hanging, like I am waiting for that punch I get when smoking a bong rip. So I sold it as it just collected dust. I have an enail now that I dab on and thats my primary way to medicate. Flower I just sample and taste but to get really high I dab.

I actually need to use less weed with my vape, but have dialed it in pretty good. It's took me a little bit to figure out how to get monster rips though. Not using the hose helps a lot. Try direct draw next time.

Volcano's are cool, but I don't like the idea of the vapor sitting in a bag for too long. I want it to go straight into my lungs. I think it would get weaker as it sits, or goes through a hose. At least that's from my personal experience. But I wasn't really impressed with my vape until I figured a few things out. Different heat settings will give different effects and I like the heavier stuff so I keep mine turned on the higher side. I also break the bud up with my finger really fine, and I mix up the weed between hits. I actually have a hard time telling the difference anymore if I take a bong rip or if use the vape. But a dab is gonna blow both bongs and vapes away. I'm coming over to test your nail, haha.

I'm a fan of Arizer products but not vaping. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I have the Argo portable and the Extreme Q for the desktop. The Extreme Q is still in the box.

I just now broke my Arizer Extreme Q out after months of not using it...But with the pandemic and my weasing lungs, I figured it's about time! I use the bags, preheat the unit good, and the bags fill with dense vape that is the closest thing to smoking I've seen. I hate those vapes where you have to work like hell to get practically nothing. Just finished a turkey bag full of T-Bomb and it worked well. I love smoking joints, but I have to believe vaping is easier on the lungs.

I like vapes for the taste and how it's much easier on my lungs but like @Renfro I just feel almost there as opposed to the boom I get from smoking. My first time really hitting a good vape --a daBuddah -- I got obliterated. So much I bought a SSV. I still break it out now and then because it just tastes so good but it's a weed hog. Or more likely I am the hog either because it makes weed taste so good I can't stop lol or I keep coming back to hit it because I'm not where i want to be. I think it's a combination. I seem to sleep better after smoking.

I also have SSV, then I bought the dabuddah for hands free but it has been years since I used either. I only vape during the day using Dynavap and hit the glass in the evenings. I agree taste is great vapingIMAG2669 - Copy.jpg

The SSV can be hands free too. If you don't want them anymore I will gladly take them off your hands, lol.

Sad news is that my dumbass finally decided to change the glass and I broke both my heater covers. I hope I learned something. Good thing I have a backup SSV until I get a new cover, lol.

I like my Extreme Q, but find myself using the Air or the Dynavap more often.

I'll never fully give up combustion, but vaping is so much cleaner and tastier. Using the dynavap with a water piece makes for massive mind-melting hits.

Also an Arizer Extreme Q user here. had it for about 7 years now and its still going strong. Still smoke a bong when we want to have a heavy hit, but quite like the vaporizer still. We just use the whip and pack it like a bong.

And I'll just add, learning how to adjust the temps and grinding the weed just right and packing the bowl tight enough, but not too tight...you definitely need to dial in your setup to have good vapes.

Do you do the 'elbow pack'? That was a game changer for me, packing the little basket filter tightly rather than having loose bud in the glass chamber.
I usually set temp around 200-210C and run the whip through a bong. I rarely use the fan on any setting but medium, though with the bigger mouthpiece and easier draw through the bong, the fan probably isn't required.

Ah, didn't realize there a term for it (of course there is lol), ya packing the filter bowl on the elbow is the way to go. Then once i feel that batch i mostly used, I'll scrape the used bud into bottom bowl, leaving it loose to get re-vaped (and it'll vape at slightly dif temp there also), while pack fresh bud back in the top. As long as you dont over pack it this gives me the most consistent and full hits and i feel i get the most out of the bud. I dont bother with the fan unless i want to get the temps up quickly to just below burning it lol. Never tried running it through a bong, the smoke is so clean already, but i might give that a try!

My Q came with a 45 degree glass-on-glass adapter. Bottom end fits in my bong and the top mates with the ridged glass tube that fits in the whip. I was pretty happy when I figured out what the hell everything did. :)
