Why dispensary weed SUCKS!

Dispensary weed does NOT suck! yes their are dispensaries with lackluster or perhaps even crappy weed but out here in ABQ New Mexico THE BLACK MARKET IS TRASH RAN BY AMATUERS IN THEIR MOM'S BASEMENTS and you know where the fire is? Sandia Botanicals and Harvest foundation have the fire and no they aren't doing any of this stupid crap I see a lot of yall talking about removing hash oil from the bud (wtf?) or machine trimming (shit out here is all hand trimmed) just go look at their instagrams the Sandbox_grower is the master grower and he's got his game locked. I wish the black market out here was good like it used to be years ago but all the weed out here is at best mids only the dispense has good weed with Sandia botanicals and harvest at the tippy top.

Okay so I'm gonna get straight to the point. All of us know the majority of dispensary weed sucks. This is my hypothesis of why dispensary weed sucks. First of all I think they use too many clones. After you clone a plant so much it starts to lose its quality. Do you know why? Because it is a clone and not the original. People are forgetting the soul element. The original plant had the soul. The clones do not. And to make matters worse the growers seem to be growing in mass amounts at a time, giving little personal attention to the plants. When you clone plants and show them little respect and attention, that's what happens. They give you low quality bud.
Good weed is free beyond the labor and supplies. Dispensary is over priced. Why it sucks in my book. Wouldn't knock it if I was out though.

Crystal golf balls to all.

I don't agree that dispensary weed sucks. It's expensive. Much of it is disappointing. I live in Ohio. That's important. Canadian dispensary cannabis is probably better than Ohio's cannabis. This is pure speculation, though, because it's not like ordering heroin on the internet; getting weed from Canada is actually difficult.

Hard to know about getting weed from Colorado. Nobody's offered. I've had fake medical dispensary cannabis from California that was some of the best I've ever tasted. Purple Punch in a can. Never thought I'd see that day, growing up during the 80s...

Anyway, Ohio. Dispensary weed does not suck here. The problem is not people harvesting trichomes from virgin buds--it's regulatory. $50 for 2.83 grams of Sour Grapefruit Kush, OR $250 for exactly 10 times that, outdoor-grown, from a large west coast state? (Both are delicious, for me.)

Almost all of the bud I have seen come from an ohio dispensary has been hot Gambino.

Michigan has a similar problem, but it's more along the lines of inconsistent. Some of the bud is great, but most of it is doof. I agree with an earlier poster that said it boils down to some combination of early harvesting, bad drying, and bad curing. Yeah, genetics plays a role, but I've seen alot of big name strains sitting on the shelfs that had bad structure and absolutely no smell at all.

I agree bad practices completely around the table due to the fact it's a business that needs return rather then interested in quality medicine. I have seen it in both states kind of sad that's the future for a good majority of smokers.

I'm being 100% serious when I say, the Mexican brickweed I used to get that was soaked in Coca cola for 1/4 lb for $40 was better than most dispensary weed I've had in the past few years. There used to be some great stuff in dispensaries, when CA was medical only in the early/mid 2000s. Amazing clones could be had as well. Now, the average THC levels might be up, but overall quality is down, strains are picked earlier than ever, dried faster than ever, and picked for production over anything else. Meanwhile, home growers have the best information right at their fingertips, belief in idiotic cannabis bro-science is at an all time low, and we have an amazing variety of great equipment available. Homegrown weed has never been better-ON AVERAGE-while dispensary weed has never been WORSE. This is a great time to grow, friends!

Yeah the business side of it really gets in the way with quality. It's odd, because businesses should want high quality stuff. I'd bet it's just because most business people who get into large scale production were never growers, and they think it's as simple as growing tomatoes or lettuce. It's not exactly hard to grow the ganja, but the drying and curing is a very delicate process, and it continues on into packaging and storage time. This is a very delicate plant in the final stages, and most people, even experienced growers I've found, mess this part up.

With some of the stuff I have seen come from a dispensary yes some of the brick weed would be able to compete if not beat it only advantage is it is fresher lol. I totally agree from most small home growers I have seen better product then some big grow ops. Home growers are definitely mastering the craft with the love the plant needs.

It's more the fact that they know it will sell regardless if its trash or not. Most think it's cool or they are getting the best from a dispensary so they rather go there then the local grower who has better product.

I don't really understand why businesses are so willing to produce shit when their costumers know better? Also I've read there's significant overproduction happening to the point where millions of pounds P/A are being turned into oils and tinctures just to avoid spoilage.

I've always had great weed in Dutch coffeeshops, and they have the same incentive to sell product as the dispensaries. No excuse really...

I was over exaggerating but trying to compare the two.I have seen some serious flower come from select dispensaries but most is pretty fresh lower mid grade I can usually find better quality on the street for the same price. Everyone thinks dispensary weed is all this and that more often it is not.

A number of folks I know are getting into growing as sort of a hobby, its like getting into brewing beer. We sit around and have these goofy nerd chats and just try to grow the best most unique stuff we can. Its pretty swell.

I think dispensaries will always have an inferior product as it's hard to produce quality on the scale they need at the prices they have to come I at. When weed was 5k+ a pound it wasn't a big deal to take the extra time to do it right, they simply can't do it at 1-2k a pound.

I concur that mexi brick often had a superior high to the much nicer looking stuff. Been a long time since I had any though.

Its a real shame that instead of using this plant as a good medicine, people are using it just to make money
addicts that is all. i smoked weed from 1990 to around 2015 and it took me nearly 5 years to break the addiction. even now 5 years later and i still get cravings. i found it to be 10 times harder to quit than smoking cigerattes.

some people have addictive personalities, they NEED something to help them get through the day...it doesn't matter what they settle on, they'll use too much of whatever it is, use it at inappropriate times, in inappropriate places, until they start to have mental and physical health issues from it.
i know a girl that used kratom to get off of meth...great, super, glad she beat the meth...but now she's addicted to kratom, ducking out back every hour or two to dose herself with it, using at least three times the recommended daily dosage, every day...and she calls it her little miracle....she just traded one monkey for another...she needs to get clean and stay that way, she cannot handle mind altering substances in any form
