Why no GMO cannabis id process in "legal" states?

In Colorado, California etc., there is no process in place to require identification and regulation of genetically engineered cannabis.
At this point in time you really have no clue, other than the word of the seller, if your cannabis is GMO or not.
All other commercial crops are regulated for GMO varieties, so why was this over looked when it came to writing cannabis legislation?
This isn't necessarily about whether GMO's are good or bad for folks and other critters, this is about corporations and the question asked above.

Sigh GMO plants are patented and owned by the companies who create them.

No company has a patented anywhere in the world for genetically modified cannabis.

I'm sure companies like Mon$atan have GE cannabis in the works tho they claim not to.

Not something I'd fret about yet and I'm dead set against GMO crap.

I'm curious about your GMO attitude. Here is a scenario I dream about.
A gene that will triple the production of resin in Cannabis is discovered. This gene is present in all Cannabis plants but it is also 'turned off' in all plants. This gene can be 'turned on' using crispr. Would you still not want this plant because it is considered 'GMO'?

That poses a bit of a conundrum. I certainly wouldn't be an early adopter but if it actually benefited those in need and proved not to have devastating side effects and need tons of chem poured on it to grow I might eventually get on board.

I'm mainly opposed to the sleazy business practices of companies like Monsanto have/still use in their efforts to dominate the worlds food supplies. RoundUp ready crops were created so they could sell more RoundUp not to benefit humanity. Not to mention that we are all being used as human lab rats consuming something that may yet be hiding it's dark side. It's used on non-Roundup Ready crops like wheat to desiccate the harvest to save the cost of drying and make sure the whole crop is ready to be harvested at the same time. Same thing with peas, lentils and many more. They aren't washing that stuff off so we are all eating glyphosate in foods you wouldn't think would have it. DDT was a wonder chemical too that they argued was safe as water so it was being sprayed on everything. We all know how that worked out.

They are now engineering bacteria, virus', and bacteria to produce cannabinoids so their pure medicinal forms can be produced cheaply without ever growing a plant. Big Pharma wants control and will have no problem convincing governments that their products are safer and dosing more consistent. Is that a real benefit?

I'm basically opposed to ALL corporations that put profit ahead of every other consideration and could not care less about who suffers in the end.
