Independents are the largest and most fickle voting block, many lean right. Unfortunately a majority of Americans also believe in replacement theory. Polling appears to be increasingly unreliable, starting with Trump, what they tell the pollsters they are for, they vote against by electing republicans. They quite simply vote against their own personal self interests, in favor of a subconsciously imagined threat to their culture and a fake strong leader to cut through the confusion and get things done.

The poll numbers for gun control are impressive, the election results not so much, if the republicans gain a majority in the house. Not even treason, sedition and insurrection matter much these days and I doubt the J6 hearings will have much of an impact either, the prosecutions should though. Abortion might make some difference and it could all add up by November.
The fickle Indies are GOPers who can't stand their own party and refuse the Democratic moniker. They'll vote Dem though because it's a secret and no one can see their vote in the booth.

This is a common belief. Neither are secure. With the advent of digital, any landline/cell can be listened listened in on remotely. Law enforcement has full access.

I relinquished my access when the RCMP wanted my fingerprints for continued eligibility - F that! 34 years in telecommunications network design (CATV, landline phone, Internet).
Thanks for straightening me out on that,my state of distrust and paranoia in these times can't get much higher, guess I was naive in thinking that a landline needed a court order signed by a judge to be tapped, when in contrast I've watched police grab a suspects cell records to put them in the loc. of murders etc.and along w/stupidity of doing gangsta posing on Facebook practically indict themselves for police,Sherlock Holmes and Columbo would be amazed how modern criminals seal their own fate these days.

Because they are afraid, the brown folks is taken over, so the sheeple will enslave themselves to republican con artists who will take their freedom, because they are too stupid to have it and don't deserve liberty anyway.

Its not the tool but the tools using the tool. Humans take credit when good and blame tools when bad. We dont talk about the warning signs given by shooters nearly as much as we cry its the muzzle length, magazine capacity, ease of access etc.

that's a false equivalency...guns are tools with only one job, and they enable the mentally ill to do that job incredibly efficiently.
i'm curious how you intend to stop the mentally ill from getting their hands on these weapons that no one has a legitimate use for?
are you going to require much more thorough, time consuming, and expensive back ground checks? ones that go into a persons mental health history? that would be a good first step.
possibly require ALL weapons to be registered to their owners immediately? and theft reported immediately? good idea.
are you going to restrict the sale of any magazines with more than a 5 round capacity? that would be a good step, too.
are you going to stop all person to person sales? make it a law with a harsh penalty that you must sell all firearms through a licensed dealer? excellent step.
how about very harsh laws about allowing children to obtain their parent's weapons? make it a felony to keep an unsecured weapon in reach of a minor? good...you actually seem to have a plan.
maybe restrict the sales of ammo to calibers of weapon that are registered to the buyer? why do you need 10,000 rounds of 5.56? says here you don't even own a 5.56? and restrict the sales of primers to rifle and shotgun only, and carefully track the sales of reloading equipment? i like your plan so far, seems like you've actually put some thought into it...
why don't you polish this little gem of a plan up and get back to us? we'll submit it to the government the same day, i promise

Obviously restricting access to guns is the answer, any fool can buy one and most fools do.
actually, that's part of the answer, a big part is deciding who should be allowed to have one to begin with.
people with any history of violent crime are immediately disqualified from owning firearms.
same for people with a history of mental health issues.
just strictly implementing those two measures would make a huge difference.
it would require mental health screenings in schools, at least yearly, from now on, though. you cannot just apply this to the people walking around in Napoleon hats made out of tin foil who stare at the world wild eyed....it has to be applied to all people, equally.
many many people who snap and kill others do not have a documented history of mental health issues, they've suffered in silence their whole lives, avoiding notice until the straw breaks their backs, and they run wild..
and some, it seems, aren't actually mentally ill at all,
https://www.michiganpsychologicalassociation.org/index.php?option=com_dailyplanetblog&view=entry&year=2021&month=02&day=28&id=72:are-all-mass-shooters-mentally-ill-
so how will we screen for them? how do you predict someones behavior? this isn't minority report, we don't have cops that can read minds, it sometimes seem a lot of them don't even have minds to read with...
but getting as many guns out of circulation as possible will be an immediate help, and keeping more from getting into circulation will help more...and at this point, even a small improvement is an improvement

I think starting today I’m going to delete the news apps from my phone it seems like every day it just gets me going and puts me in these moods I’m sad for this country I’m heartbroken for it and at the same time I’m still very proud to be an American those shootings in Texas at the school make me feel sick it has nothing to do with me and I live several thousand miles away and there’s something about it that keeps coming at me every day that makes me sick about it sorry I do I think I’m going to turn the news off and stop checking up on it so much it’s like I’m just waiting every day to read what new massacre took place or who took advantage of who or who hurt who The police that responded to that school and did nothing should do the world a favor and eat a bullet

Im sick too disgusted. Im just wondering why nobody feels this sick about every weekend in most major cities. I also agree those cops are a disgrace to say it nicely. So which racist white pigs are we sending to remove these guns. Have to right? Or just to my lawful house? Something tells me alot of people aren’t giving them up for movie tickets especially if you don’t know wherr or who has them. So here we go bring the laws the restrictions whatever ive been under them my whole life. They don’t work if they’re not enforced and seems like alot of you aren’t about enforcement of much….
