Probably the wrong forum but I figure if any of you are growing, this is where you'd come. :)

i'm about 80% sure I'm going to retire up north in Chiang Rai in about 6 months. From what i've seen and read online, Chiang Mai has gotten too big for my tastes.

I was in thailand for a couple years back in the 70s. i've been brushing up on my thai. I won't be growing while there. way too risky.

I have been picked up and driven around the monkey house before. Cost a hundred u.s. back in the day. Set up by our house girl. the cops were very friendly and told us that she was the one who set us up. then she was annoyed that we fired her. lol

I'm going to be very cautious about scoring any pot and i figure i will do without most of the time. Once the locals figure out that i love their country and i'm not there for 20 year old puyings, or yaba, i hope to find someone i can trust enough to score a brick here and there. i don't like trusting others with my freedom but those are the risks we all take sometime.

Any thing good or bad to say about living up north? i'm not looking forward to the rice burning season but other than that, i don't see a downside. I love the culture and the the north is so beautiful.

i'll have about 72,000 baht a month so i should be able to live pretty well. I figure that i could live for much less than i spend in the U.S., about $1200 less in expenses per month.

any input would be appreciated.
