Artificial crude oil created in labs using algae.

I was just discussing this with a friend of mine the other day.
The PNNL seem to have a scalable process to do this but it is either too early in development or the whole project is so hush-hush (being military funded) there is little information on where they are with the practical development.

I bet there is a much more efficient and cheaper way to make fuel; Im thinking of growing millions of squars miles of HEMP and harvesting the biodiesel, the hemp oil directly from the seed.

But this process of converting algae into crilude oil is a good step in the right direction. The next thing they need to do is mass produce this process to take over the fossil fuel monopoly. But I still think that hemp biodiesel might be more efficient and cost effective.

hmmm...but land used for hemp is a greater opportunity cost versus growing algae on the ocean.
It would also have some interesting externalities ( +'ve and -'ve ) associated with change in local ecosystems.

great now we are never going to run out of this shit.

Who says you cant grow hemp floating on the ocean, or in the ocean- underwater, or under the ocean floor in growing factory farms? One of My prophecies is that all these will happen in the future.

How did she smoke a blunt through her pussy? I dont get it.

No one is saying it can't be done, unless you're talking about throwing a bunch of good genetics into the ocean, then NO, it won't work.
You are talking about building artificial platforms or barges for the purposes of growing weed?

Algae doesn't need "extra equipment", I think that's the part you're not conceptualizing here. They literally just scoop the shit out of the ocean (or whatever body of water).

Im talking about growing ANYTHING ANYWHERE. As long as you had the know how and the proper equipment, Im saying anything can be grown anywhere, even in space like the space station. The world is our oyster to be exploited to the fullest. I would grow farms underground, in the mountains, in sky scrapers, on land of course, floating on top of the ocean, underwater, under the ocean floor and finally on other planets that I would build from asteroids. But, of course you would need to make all these habitats conducive to plants and people.

I must have missed the part where they scoop the algae from the ocean, I dont think that part is in the posted video. But whatever works and is cheap, that should be used as fuel. I dont care if its algae, electricity, hydrogen, or hemp biodiesel; its whatever works the best and is the cheapest so we can all spend our money on better things.

To be fair, it wasn't in that video. I saw another one where they were literally scooping "seaweed" with rakes.
This TEDx talk has a good general picture of using microalgae to process waste water. It is a more complicated process than the one PNNL is working on, but it is meant to inspire more than inform ;)

I watched the video and I think its a wonderful idea, anything that brings cheap, clean, renuable fuel should be implemented in My opinion. We should implement all the best ways to make fuel, but Im sure the scientists are working on it now. One of My personal favorite fuels is liquid hydrogen, the ocean is literally full of it and its the cleanest burning fuel.

Thanks for sharing the video Heckler.
