Can you set up an 5 foot tent inside another 5 foot tent?

I was unable to erect an 8 foot tall tent in the room I have available, so I turned it on its side. SO it is now only a 5 foot tall tent and I want to try setting up a smaller tent inside the large tent that is flipped on its side.

My experience tells me it would be impossible if all surfaces were hard like sheetrock is, but I am thinking that the flexibility of the larger tent's canvas may well allow me to erect the 5 foot tent inside of the larger, flipped over tent.

Why the heck is this not easy to find info? Has no one ever in the history of growing tried to set up a small tent inside of a big tent?

What do you think? Will the canvas be stretchy enough to allow this to take place?

First of all, why would you? For what purpose? This is some Tom Fuckery if I have ever seen it.

Do yourself a favor and return the 8' tent, then buy yourself a tent that fits your height restrictions.

Use 1 tent inside of a lung room, not a tent inside of a tent ..

and 5' max height? Good luck with that nonsense.

Why not just add an extra fabric divider wall somehow, to partition the other space instead of erecting another frame inside?

So if an 8' tall tent wasn't gonna fit your needs, why did you buy it?

Thats kinda like buying size 12 shoes knowing you are only a size 10...

Or, cut all 4 corner poles down however much you need with a hacksaw, and then fold the excess fabric up once you put it back over the shortened frame.

I would build a short 2x5x8 table to set it on, and cut holes in the side wall (the new floor section) for the plant containers or hydro system to sit down below the tent under the table top, with the rims flush to the fabric. That way you get the full 4-5 ft to hang the lights and also train the plants without losing more space. If you trained them well or did a SOG in there like that, you could possibly double the yield compared to growing with it in the normal upright position. 5x8 vs 5x5..

I will try to expain better. The reason I have been utilizing a 4 foot tent inside of a 5 foot tall tent (actually an 8 footer on its side) is so that I can pull the plant out of its 4ft space and work on it in the space of the bigger tent which I am working within. Why? Well...
1) I have a charcoal filter running in the small tent of course, but I also have the same type of fan/filter running in the bigger flipped over tent.
2) This means that after I am forced to open up the smaller tent for rez changes or lollipopping etc, I close the little tent back up with the plant inside, and then wait for 10 minutes while the bigger tent's air is being charcoal filtered.
3) Only then do I exit the larger tent (crawling of course, it's only 5 ft tall, lol)
4) THE RESULT: this method makes for the least smell being released from a grow compared to ANY other method.

What are the exact sizes of the two tents?

If the tents are not exactly the same then yes.
There's enough slack in the fabric.
You'd have to build the frame of the bigger one in the base of the fabric and then build the smaller one and then pull over the fabric of the bigger one and zip it up

Like, you could build a 3x3 on a 4x4 or 5x5 , you wouldn't be able to build a 4x4 in a 4x8 because the frames would be in the way.

Better off just scrubbing the air inside the tent and also in the room in which your tent is placed and making sure it is sealed as much as possible. Also want negative pressure inside the tent.

Thant WOULD BE AWESOME!!! Yes, if finances permit, a third very big tent, also with its own inline fan/charcoal filter should theoretically add one more layer of smell control!

Hi Corey, the big tent on its side originally had a 5x5 floor plan with a height of 8 feet.

I gotcha. Pretty sure I understand you want the 4x4x? to stand upright in the sideways 5x5x7'+, but the 4x is like 6 ft tall right? So, you need some slack in the 5x to make an extra ft of head space for it to fit.

I don't have a lot of experience personally owning a tent, but I've set up enough of them to know that they already have problems as is with stitching coming loose, pin holes letting light leaks thru, or zippers going bad.. You probably don't wanna stress the bigger one like that, and try to force it in. That much I'm sure of.

In that case, I would just cut the longest 4 poles on the 5x5 down and put it back together, so there is way more slack in the fabric to do so..

Save the 4 little cut off pieces of tubing, and then add 4 small coupler fittings to convert it back to normal after your done using it that way, and no one would ever even know you modified it.

I've done exactly that for my buddies tents, so they could fit a wider scrog net in the tent, and have a bigger canopy than normal.. Made the tent shorter, but enough slack to make the middle section a bit wider all the way around.

I have been using this big tent on its side (lol) for a few months. I probably should have tried to return it and should have looked for a 6 foot tall tent with a big floor plan. Whoops. The problem was that there was no way I could have folded the tent back into its tight-fitting packaging!

Thanks for your detailed help! As it (the big tent) was such a bitch to erect, I am either going to be able to set up the 5 foot tent (which I ordered a few days ago) inside of it, or this new tent will also be placed on its side, which kind of sucks because it will then be another 4 foot tent, although at least it will have a 2x5 floor plan, allowing me a great deal more room.
