2024 Tolerance Break Grow Journal

Brief update.

Chem Fuego clones taken. I'm labeling them "Vigor" for the vigorous grower. "Burnt Rubber" for the rechid odor the clones put off as soon as I cut them. And last but not least, "Dark" because it's the darkest green of the three. It might be better to call it shit, because it's the slowest growing of the 3, and as I was finishing up, oh boy did it smell like shit in there.

Oh, and I brought the mom's back to square 1 with a decimation of a defoliation. I want them stunted as possible, especially the haze, because as you can tell, it was getting a little wild in the mom tent. Still no idea what to do with the solo cup Space Monkey. Not even sure of its gender yet. To be continued...

Busy seems to be the new normal, for better or worse.

A couple updates. The Consumption x Choc thai mom had to go. She developed what looked like powdery mildew. Perhaps it was low night time humidity, the low powered fan I was running in veg, or it's placement in the tent. It was the only plant showing any signs of PM. Ive been keeping a close eye on everything, and I made some environmental adjustments to keep the other plants happier. They're getting light foliar treatments a couple times a week until they're ready to clone, which brings me to the other developments...

I took a handful of clones from each chem fuego. Up to this point, I've had nearly 100% success with peat, taking large amounts of cuttings. This run, only 6 rooted. I am going to wait a few weeks, maybe a month, and take as many cuttings as possible. My success rates are higher with more plants in the tray, which is funny, because I only take a bunch of clones in case a few fail. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.

My mind isn't totally made up, as I have some pressing issues creating quite the persistent distraction from my favorite hobby, but this too shall pass.

I see the sad reacts, and I realize it's not an objectively possitive post, but it's just a bump in the road.

Transparency is what made me anxious about of doing a grow journal in the first place. I don't like talking about the setbacks and failures but they happen, and thats okay. I haven't even started branching out into Organics, so there are many infuriating setbacks ahead, and I'm all for it. Success carrys a much different meaning when dealing with adversity.

I'm just starting to build a closet grow so I have no idea what mistake I hope knock on wood don't encounter to many I know some. I didn't know you can get PM from to low humidity I thought only high in flowering.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing how the closet build shapes up.

I'm still not 100% that it was PM but I wasn't about to fuck around and find out. I'm thinking the constant fluctuations in temp and humidity here in missouri have made the airborne pathogens go wild. Given I chopped off the top 90% of the plant, it might have just been weakened enough for PM to take hold, where all the other plants have more or less thrived. All speculation of course.

Great growers use this curious2garden and other use right off early in veg. I'm going with it just for security
Hell yeah, bookmarked!

I got high on the hog when into growing and bought a bunch of shit for hydro and organic, and now most of the organic stuff has expired, so I'm going to try and be patient

I have not died! (Although I caught another cold)

Forgot to turn the pump on yesterday and damn near killed my plants. They perked back up quick. If all goes well, I'll clone this weekend, but I'm skeptical the weather will permit such arrogance...

2024, the year of falling up hills lol
Obviously licking the wrong door knobs! Carry on.....
(glad to see you back)

Decided to go a different direction. As you can see, the net work is a bit rough, but I'm just trying to get these gals flowered so I can move onto other beans. I'm going to stop being so picky with seeds I don't plan on making more of.

I'll give them some time to adjust, and when I'm happy with where they're at, I'll flip. Could be two weeks or tomorrow, time will tell!

Chem Fuego is still recovering from some over watering stress. The roots are finally starting to spread through the coco mat, so it's only a matter of time. These are definitely the most persnickety plants I have ever dealt with before flip.

I have all the material for my SIPS and I have enough clones with roots to take my pick of the litter. I'll have them prepped and ready for transplant by friday!

Little update.

I've been busy. These SIPs will house my Mango/C5 Haze, and several future grows.

The Chem Fuego was flipped Tuesday, and thank God, because relative to the space I have for them, they're massive. No pics, but I will get some up soon.

I'm taking a dinner break to write this, as I still have one SIP to set up. The clones will be planted next weekend, whether the soil is colonized or not.

This is uncharted territory, so it should be a healthy balance of fun and stressful. Stay tuned!20240331_155022.jpg20240331_155030.jpg20240331_160310.jpg20240331_164544.jpg20240331_170925.jpg

Been meaning to update this for a while, long story short, I try to do it at work where there's no reception, and by the time I get home, I forget. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Anywho, here's what's cooking.

The Chem Fuego is coming along nicely. Got a little discoloration along the leaf edge, not sure if that's a PH or temp/humidity thing, but the weather here in the midwest has been swinging alot. Had to kick on the window unit for a few 80+ days, then it dropped down to the low 60s with 40 degree nights. Good times.

As you can see, she's rolling right along. I'm running the lights so the top of the tallest colas are (roughly) 950 PAR, with the squatter plants in the 600 range. I don't want to adjust anything besides feed strength at this point, as I'm trying to be less of a tinkerer and accept the hydro doesn't really need me for anything but food and cleaning.

Now for the Mango C5 Haze tent. There's not a whole lot to say, because everything is working as intended. I'm sticking to an every other week top dress schedule, and this is my off week. They got their first true sub irrigation, and the roots must be well established, because they perked up quite a bit overnight. I might have overdone the resovoire a bit, because each on took around 5 gallons to hit the spill line!

There's a bit of residue on the leaves from micronized sulfur I've been using as a preventative measure for bugs and such. I found a couple gnats on the sticky trap, and I saw them in the dirt of one planter, but I added neem and gave a strong saponin solution in my last top feed, and I have seen 0 gnats since. I also haven't lifted the panda film, so I guess I'll find out next week if they're dead or just building strength lol.

The only other change is I raised the lights about 8 inches and turned them up to reach about 530 PAR from 350. I can tell they're going to be monsters. Over 2 weeks in 12/12 and there's no signs of pre flower, but they're starting to take off.

Oh! And a nice little touch of leaf speak, these two leaves are a couple nodes apart, and you can see she decided to go from 5 to 7. I am pretty sure that means she's happy in her new home!

So I recently posted another thread about a low maintenance mother tent, and long story short, I came up with this. 20240429_184342.jpg20240429_184350.jpg

I got some farmerjoe cuts of sour D and Chem 91 in solo cups with coco/perlite under 40 watts of led off Amazon, along with a tray of Pineapple Field seedlings. Once they're transplanted, and I see how things grow, I'll come up with a plan for them. For now, this is my "mother tent" which I will refer to as "the incubator" and I have some plans for expanding/altering it, but I'll save that for another day...

I forgot to take Chem fuego photos, but here are the Mango c5 haze plants. The tallest is 5x taller than when I flipped to flower lmao 20240428_092542.jpg20240428_092532.jpg
