Florida Growers Thread

@drolove - that's ACTUALLY not a bad idea. I plan on having a pretty good variety around my grow (peas, tomatoes, edible herbs, etc.) But yes, you're probably right about the shade too....
I ordered from Herbies and I have to say, I was very impressed with their stealth shipping. I'm sure the po-po or any other powers that be patrol these kinds of sites so without going into too much detail it was a very cool to be able to order something like this for the first time and be successful. I didn't order too much - Sour Diesel (1x), John Heher (1x), plus some freebies like Strawberry Blue (1x) (all fem) and then I think I got something called afghani which is regular. (3x).
I've got them heading into day #2 of germinating using the water glass method above my fridge cabinet door to stay somewhat warm. I'm hoping to see some little hint of sprouting tomorrow.
Any tips for growing from a seed and when to plant outside?
looks like you got a nice little lineup. i dont grow outdoors in florida so i dont have any real tips for the area and climate but according to the daylight hour calculator i just looked up you should be ok to put your plants outside around may without them flowering soon as you put them out. any earlier, especially since you've already started them and they'll have time to sex before may, they'll start to flower soon as you put them out there then they'll go back to veg not long after and its just a waste of time. so dont put them outside too early. they are going to need 14 hours or more of constant light or they'll flower. so presexed (typically a month old or older) plants go outside around may and you can start from seed outdoors about a month earlier since they'll need about a month to become sexually mature before they can flower anyways.

Thanks! That's some great advice. I just looked up the daylight calculator and found a good one here. As for knowing when they're ready I am still totally new to that as well. It looks like I'm looking for June for that 14 hr mark.
I'm thinking about going out of town for about a month in mid-July - would that totally screw things up if I'm not around?

Hey everyone, I'm not from Florida but for me it has always been a lifelong dream to live there. From my visits I have often thought anyone growing would have to grow indoors because it appeared that there were no large plots of land where people wouldn't eventually come across the plants. Especially not on your own land, unless you could buy 10 acres and put a fence around it. Also, it appears to have the harshest laws against MJ in the country, it's a felony to grow one plant right?. So, what is the environment like there for personal growers with say 4-6 plants. If you got busted there are you toast?

well the laws states getting caught with any amount over 20 grams is a felony but i dont think they are really THAT strict but who knows. although we have laws like that here we are also known for having more indoor grows than most states. i remember hearing some statistics like 1 in 12 house holds in florida have some sort of grow operation whether it be a large scale op or a single plant. and there ARE places in florida to grow outdoors, you just gotta get out of the main cities then theres all sorts of places.

Yea there are plenty of places to grow. In fact i remember back when I lived in Jax I had a small plot right off Blanding next to a smaller river going into the St. John's , but ya ur right it's better to grow in more rural locations. Florida's leo isn't going to give up their $ making golden goose. I was a 40 year native of the redneck riviera I can tell u as beautiful as it is there, I had to move somewhere the grass is truly "greener". Grow Safe Florida!:blsmoke:

OK FLCANN has blown up my email enough to talk about the new medical bill. Who else doesn't like this piece of shit: https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2015/7066/?Tab=BillHistory
I like how they have the balls to limit cbd to the standard 8 diseases. You should be able to buy cbd at the gas station not need a mmj card lol.
Yea when it comes to MMJ Florida doesn't have a clue. Hopefully it will get better with time. We will finally be getting dispenceries here in HI this year 15 years after the law went into effect! Hopefully FL will be quicker, but just from reading a few paragraphs it sounds like a joke

Wtf is there idea of low THC levels and how the hell would they be able to control that. What are they gonna test every strain and then every hybrid and every one of the hundreds of strains that come out a week. Boo to low THC im a pain management patient and with my mmj i dont even really need to take my oxycodone..... They have no problem with giving me ninety mgs of painkillers every day.
But look out for that nug it has too much of the good medicine in there that helps my back.
