Ok I know the true watts is not going to be 800 watts but I will be happy with 400 watts of cob for the price this thing is at $140.Has anyone experienced these yet.

Bonjour
No...what kind of diode is in this panel?
if it is the same as mars it will be the same thing...whatever the price of the panel...
You could give me some mars or whatever panel using epistar diode I wouldn't use it...I prefer to pay 4 time more and get 2 time or more gpw for the same electricity bill!!!!

Are those the 4 cob eBay lights? Considered buying one to toss some Cree or veros in. No idea whats inside it but typically the actual watts is half of what they advertise.

The thought of buying a new chinacob just to go Cree is interesting but I bet the weakness will be cooling, still a cool thought.

Damn. I've been looking at that same light for several days wondering the same thing. Actually mentioned it in a thread last night. The link.

The company and the specs.

Would like as many opinions as possible. I know the haters gonna hate. And. The DIYers gonna hate. I would like to see an honest objective analysis from someone who knows their stuff based on what's inside. Not everything China is bad. Pretty much all important electronics including the smart phones and tvs are made in China and they work great and are long lasting. Anyway. Thanks and peace and love to all.

Impossible to tell. They don't disclose anything relevant and that should be a red alert.

Generally, these cheap COBs are a perfect place to utilize the worst chips. I wouldn't expect neither good results nor long life.

The good diy folks are just trying to build the best they can for themselves. Cree happens to deliver an excellent line of products suitable to our use. Pointing out weaknesses and outright ripoff outfits is not hating.

I for one really hate blurple.

I'm def on alert. But it's cheap enough, and like earlier poster said. You may always be able to upgrade the COB and even if only the case is good, it wouldn't be a total loss. I actually do have a couple of really older Blurple UFO's that still work like they did when I ordered them. One is from the company that is now Mars. Another is just a generic shipped straight from China. I completely understand price/quality. But, sometimes it is efficient to make that sacrifice. It's gambling. I'm just thinking on it for now and it will probably be months or longer before I actually pull the trigger on COB. I will go COB. At some point tho. Thanks for your input.

It's gambling and the pot isn't very high. And there's also much finer ways of gambling I'll spend my money on :)

Would you upgrade to the latest COBs only to have them powered by no name drivers?

Dude I've played the sports book. Still do. Poker, 3k nights. Wins and losses. Won all night tourneys. $5 in couple of k out. Let the casinos money ride. Still play a little. I get bored now tho. Penny stocks. I made a ton of money. I was a daytrader when 911 happened. A very good one. Was in a bunch of penny stocks and other high risk crap. BKed me. I've played the big boards. I love the options game. Gawd I've made a ton on calls and puts. High risk tho. Stressful too if you're worried about money. Yeah I've lost a lot too. $140? lol. I may be kinda broke now. But, when you lose many multiples of 10's of thousands of dollars overnight. Mostly all of your money and more money than you ever had before or your parents. You really get callous about money. It helps that I made that money playing the same game I lost it.

No big deal. I just wanted some intelligent input regarding this light. I got some, namely being that the pieces might have value whether the appliance as a whole does work effectively or not. I ask these questions not because I think I will get credible feedback from you peeps. But, sometimes on the RIU. At least the feedback will lead me to think in other ways. I will figure it out and make that determination for myself. Thanks for your input. For whatever it was or wasn't worth. Peace and love! :bigjoint:

You could take the gamble, no glaring red flags besides the fact that they don't say what brand cobs they use.

Well, it uses cree diodes and it's a white light. Even shows it in the picture that it's not blurple.

Their other models that aren't cobs use cree diodes but are red/blue 5w blurples.

Yeah the next open check I get I think I'm going to hit them up.Whats the worse that can happen, I have to replace them with $4 cob every other grow from blowout which if happened that would suck.

Look at the SPD chart. Such a light would be pinkish at least.

Bysen might just be the real brand here. Those blue lights they sell are bysen. Do a search here maybe.

No, the yellow cobs emit a warm white.

They do use the smaller diodes that are red and blue for that blurple effect on other models. But seems like they use all CREE diodes
