Your info has generally been dismissed over the years here. Mainstream for me is all the good info that has been perpetuated from overgrow to the present day.YUP!
We all have opinions we know what those are like....your excused...
Still gotta ask....Whats "mainstream" teaching anyway? guess I'm stuck in the rut of what I learned..
Give it time and pay attention. Old school at it's best!
Hmm, your point has me more focused on taking some time and looking closer at exactly "how" I come to that conclusion too!Your info has generally been dismissed over the years here. Mainstream for me is all the good info that has been perpetuated from overgrow to the present day.
Ive never had a male but i have had plenty of weird pre flowers hence why i post, but to hear you can sex a plant from a glance makes me wonder if a lot of growers are missing a trick or your info is still dismissed.
There is evidence that males can look subtley different to female in later veg and if you work with a strain long enough but ive yet to see much evidence so i remain open minded on the subject.Hmm, your point has me more focused on taking some time and looking closer at exactly "how" I come to that conclusion too!
As I clear my present problem. I shall be taking the time to explore the issue from a more exacting study point.
Thanks for giving me the urge to do so..
Doc
I can say that the ratio I find is just a tic under 1 in 5. Average of like 3 out of 16...
Single calyx formation at the branching points = female....Not weird. There is evidence that males can look subtley different to female in later veg and if you work with a strain long enough but ive yet to see much evidence so i remain open minded on the subject.
For me his weird pre flowers do look more female than male but i would never be sure till i see white pistils of fully formed pollen sacs. Im just glad that for once there werent 10 different posts saying it was male, hermie or worst still to cut it down.
A calyx is not hard to identify and neither are male balls yet we see lots of imperfect examples (i freely cite this based on the amount of threads here including the ops photos).Single calyx formation at the branching points = female....Not weird.
Aggressive? No lol, this is actually quite polite compared to most lol. It would be cool to post up 10 young plants that the sex is now known and have a bit of a "male or female" thing .Good to see I have sparked conversation even if it is a little on the aggressive side. I am two weeks into flower (one at 12/12 and one at 11/13). I noticed pre flowers before I flipped and I still have no definitive answer to sex. I feel like it's taking a long time. This strain has a flower period of 12-14 weeks would this prolong this stage? Thanks guys I appreciate all of your feedback.
Force them as in photoperiod? Can I follis the apply super thrive? Will that incurage it? I am waiting. Just am too impatient, maybe I shouldn't have gone with a 14weeker :/Ok so am I the only one that can't tell . And really can't u just force them or WAIT TILL THEY SHOW!!!
Throw it in to 12/12 to force it, cull then continue on, clone and reveg, or yes be patient lol.Force them as in photoperiod? Can I follis the apply super thrive? Will that incurage it? I am waiting. Just am too impatient, maybe I shouldn't have gone with a 14weeker :/
You would be blown away at the algorithms that your brain can do after years of something!Hmmm, this sounds real flimsy advice.....!?
I hate to be barer of bad news but,,,,,SUPER THRIVE is snake oil!Force them as in photoperiod? Can I follis the apply super thrive? Will that incurage it? I am waiting. Just am too impatient, maybe I shouldn't have gone with a 14weeker :/
But does that actually make them show sex earlier?I hate to be barer of bad news but,,,,,SUPER THRIVE is snake oil!
Kelp extract is a FAR better choice!
