here is what both sides agreed upon as the most powerful moment of either convention:

and here is donald trump's response:

"If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me."

http://www.vox.com/2016/7/30/12332922/donald-trump-khan-muslim

he was suggesting that she was not allowed to speak because she is muslim. that is slander.

here she is actually trying to speak, too overwhelmed by grief because of the death of her son, breaking down in tears. (15:20)

"You tell me"
Why should they tell him anything? First of all, not everybody can speak in front of thousands of people. Second off, did Melena do half of Donald's speech?

By saying "you tell me", TRUMP! is shifting the burden of proof on these people to prove that they do not support sharia law. There is nothing about this that is not racist and persecutes Muslims. If he is not impugning their patriotism due to their religion then he is straight out calling her an idiot. As usual, he will not commit himself one way or the other. You can see what you want if you are a TRUMP! supporter. Just like the fascists of 80 years ago.

Trump's campaign just keeps amping up the rhetoric
Khizr Khan Smeared As A Terrorist For Speaking Out Against Donald Trump
The man whose son sacrificed his life serving the U.S. military is facing accusations that he’s tied to the Muslim Brotherhood.

“From my perspective, it is the responsibility of Mr. Khan to distinguish himself from Islamists, from the Muslim Brotherhood, whose treatise is to destroy us from within,” Rios said. “If he is a patriotic, loyal, American Muslim, then we want to hear that, that’s great, and we grieve with them over the death of their son. But do not disparage Americans or Donald Trump for having concerns about Muslims in our midst.”

He has had nothing to do the the Muslim Brotherhood. What are they talking about?

And then, Trump actually takes on the mother who lost her son.

“If you look at his wife, she was standing there,” Trump told ABC News on Saturday. “She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me.” Ghazala Khan responded in a Washington Post op-ed, however, saying the reason she didn’t speak was because she was too overcome by grief.

Amazing. It's understandable that Khan's words has put Trump in an uncomfortable position. Such as the accusation that Trump has sacrificed nothing, or denouncing him for his ignorant remarks regarding Muslims in the US and worldwide and that Khan has refused to back down in spite of the heat poured onto him and his wife. Still, they are just civilians in this contest. He is better off just leaving them alone. That he can't do that tells us what kind of leader he is.

Donald Trump’s Draft Deferments: Four for College, One for Bad Feet
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/02/us/politics/donald-trump-draft-record.html?_r=0
Back in 1968, at the age of 22, Donald J. Trump seemed the picture of health.

He stood 6 feet 2 inches with an athletic build; had played football, tennis and squash; and was taking up golf. His medical history was unblemished, aside from a routine appendectomy when he was 10.

But after he graduated from college in the spring of 1968, making him eligible to be drafted and sent to Vietnam, he received a diagnosis that would change his path: bone spurs in his heels.

The diagnosis resulted in a coveted 1-Y medical deferment that fall, exempting him from military service as the United States was undertaking huge troop deployments to Southeast Asia, inducting about 300,000 men into the military that year.

The deferment was one of five Mr. Trump received during Vietnam. The others were for education.

His experience during the era is drawing new scrutiny after the Muslim American parents of a soldier who was killed in Iraq publicly questioned whether Mr. Trump had ever sacrificed for his country. In an emotional speech at the Democratic National Convention last week, the soldier’s father, Khizr Khan, directly addressed Mr. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, saying, “You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

Trump avoided the draft and didn't even think of enlisting after the issue resolved itself. No surgery was ever done. Lots of people did the same or found other ways to avoid the draft. His rationalization about sacrifice is spectactularly Trumpish:

“I think I’ve made a lot of sacrifices,” Mr. Trump said to Mr. Stephanopoulos. “I work very, very hard. I’ve created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I’ve had tremendous success. I think I’ve done a lot.”

Yes, the unbearable sacrifice of "tremendous success", what a martyr he is.

He is a piece of shit. Think of the millions of vets and active duty and their family members who have been turned off by this fuck off. I think he has manged to insult at least 3/4s of the population at this point. Well if he wins, got to figure the US is due to have an assassinated president. Not a good group of peeps to insult, lots of killers and sharp shooters.
