I seem to be sensing a ground swell of interest in Citizen COBs. Cree level performance for a deep discount, is what I'm hearing correct?

1212s are 36V and are currently the cheapest chip out there in straight lumens per dollar at a given efficiency. at $12 each they are currently untouchable

of course there is a little higher per unit cost if you use discrete holders and heatsinks but they are extremely well suited to people with extruded bars

and of course you can get creative for those who like to push the limits of efficiency. heres $60 in chips that obliterated all comers.

And basically, that graph is saying the harder you drive these, the more efficient they are compared to cxb?

Actually they are the standard the rest copy from what I can tell.

reminds me of the Nvidia and Ati bit that goes on...
This happens in every tech segment. Cree has been dominant, but more cost effective business models are coming online. Either Cree adapts and innovates with desirable product or it dies. No one is immune.

I happen to know a thing or two about technological obsolescence from first hand experience.

you do realize the #s Cree has hit in the lab on multiple phosphor coated packages?...........their not going anywhere

IMO............some " basement brewed" graphs/charts being shown aren't accurate or reliable until I get confirmation from guod/supra/alesh/gg and such................sorry, but I remember when they couldn't even match up FV/driver combos less than a year ago soooooooooooooooo.

I think Cree is just a generation behind, and Citizen beat both Bridgelux and Cree to the punch, it's nothing too magical.

It's not just these charts, which makes me a little more confident. @robincnn found the same thing in his tests, and @Malocan has some properly thorough testing in his thread, guided by @guod, and the 2700K 90CRI 1825 has more output than a 3500K 80CRI 3590 CD at 50W and above, let alone a 3500K 80CRI Citizen.

Again, it's just a generational thing. Nothing magical, and Cree will be catching up soon, but they'll have a real fight this time around from Citizen and Bridgelux.

replicate? ill send you that one, i have too much random shit all over the place

those can be in parallel with a 150-200W* 36W driver (*heatsink limited)
or you could do them in series at say 1050mA/38W each

low current test of 4000K 80cri 1825 vs 4000K 70cri CXB3590 DB bin

just tested this last night on my newer more accurate power supply

assume with crees pending bin jump their 80cri will be DB bin soon

as far as the new "200W" crees, all bets are off until we see one

They got the 200W chip coming out soon. We'll see how much it costs.
So are they pushing more watts? or actually making better led light with less watts

how come one is 80 CRI and the other is 70 CRI?
