What's the price breakdown for these boards? The cost for the diodes alone is only about $8.50, does board manufacturing really cost that much or is it more a matter of economies of scale? I've found another supplier - aceled - that is willing to do a similar board using S6 diodes. I need to do a run of 50, but the overall cost will be $54 per board wholesale. Where are you guys getting $21 of extra costs while using lower bin diodes?

It's called capitalism, profit margin, it's what makes America great! If you think you can build a better one for less, you are free to have at it.

S5 and S6 bin cost about the same. Availability is the issue. Discussing with multiple distributors and Samsung as well.
Yes I know Digikey has some S6. But we need a significantly more qty for our production runs.
Trust us no one is more curious to play with S6 boards. @Stephenj37826

No one sells that orignal 561C that cheep.

Samsung sells 96 diode strip for $27
We sell 304 diode board for $75
Prices will go down about 10%-15% as we sell more. Need to keep a margin to sell. need to pay ourself for time and research. Website fees, PayPal fees and others Costs of business too.

No new boards design for now.
Board design will be the same for a while.

Slate 1 heatsinks will not be available for a 4-5 weeks. Some production issue with that extrusion.

Slate 2 heatsinks will be available next week. A single board version 310mm long for just under $20 and a double board 620mm long for just under $40. Slate 2 will have taller serated fins and slightly more weight for even better cooling than slate 1

People do not work for free. Samsung has a big investment. Robin and Stephen have bills like the rest of us and do a great job. The value they are providing is pretty incredible. QBs like COBS solve the heat problem and reduce power consumption.

Presumably ACE LED has people who need to be paid as well, yet their product is lower cost. It makes me wonder whether ACE was trying to run a number on me, possibly selling me crappier diodes. I will clearly need to do more digging, but there are definitely slightly lower cost options than these quantum boards at the moment.

This will bring them into no-compete territory. They will dominate the market at this price. If the boards are upgraded to S6 as more diodes become available, they will be pulling 3-5% more luminous flux than they are currently. If you guys continue to upgrade boards with newer samsung diodes as they become available and you can maintain the price, you will be receiving at least twenty thousand of my dollars in the next two years.

They've already gotten twice that much of my money. I consider it well spent, and you should, too.

Good to know ... Now..... * headlock

Just kidding ... Looks like i will grab what i can when they pop up ... For now ANY slate sink will do ... I take it these are outsourced ?

Yes 4 boards will cover a 5X5. If you get type A HLG 240 and the slate 2 heatsinks you can crank them up to 300 watts each driver. 2 HLG 240 will and 4 boards will do the job in this way.
Curious how many of these boards can fit on a hlg-240-1750? I have this driver and is not currently being used.Im guessing 3 but how well will it run them?
