HPS to T5

hey guys trying to get some input here. I have a 400w 3x3 tent that I run 20/4. Currently I have 3 autos finishing up in there and 3 more just sprouted from dirt. I also built a secret dresser with 4 2ft t5 bulbs.

I have 3 seedlings under the t5. The main point of the dresser is to hold one mother and some clones. Would it be bad if I put them to veg a bit under the hps until about a foot tall then moved the strongest mother into the t5 dresser? Or would that light change hurt the plant? Please input would be greAt

it will be fine . you can veg with the hps . i know your concerned about changing the spectrum the 2700 to the 6500 k . the plant will not care . your 100 % good .

As somebody pointed out in another thread you won't know what is the strongest mother until one of it's cuttings has fully budded, so the faster developed one at an early stage in veg may not be the best.

You would either have to run the seeds in flower while cuttings from them are in veg or keep all 3 seeds in veg and flower out one of their cuttings. First option is easier/faster but you will lose the mother being direct from seed, not sure if that makes a huge difference keeping a cutting over a seed as mother.

In any case why not just keep them under the t5 from the start?. You can get it closer earlier with a better spectrum/spread to reduce initial stretch.

If those seedlings are auto's you ain't going to be able to mother them, you'll need regs or clones or femmes
Good luck
