Got the Hlg 80 350 for $36
And six strips for $24
Definitely a good little light for 60 bucks I'll probably dim down and use for my clone/ seedling area
Now I have everything on the way I guess I should know how to wire them
I know they have the poke in connectors so do I wire in parallel ? And hook up one side to driver
Wire in series

Even without air cooling through the tubing it looks great and I love the strength and ease of building with it. I would have run a strip of angle along the 2 outside edges just to make them all perfectly straight and even looking. I think I'll definitely be using more tubing in my next build. Looks great so far.

I used square aluminum tubing and loved it. It's effortless to work with, offers a way to hide wiring and it's way stronger than using angle. I had thought about using it for strips too but I'm not ready to get invested quite yet. I also have 4 x 18" pieces heatsinkusa 4.850" sinks so who knows what I will end up doing first!
This is really clean - do you mind if I put this picture on ledbuilder.org?

Feel free. I made a mistake and should have put the wiring through the tubing way earlier in the build so lost patience and just wrapped it around. Lost some of it's clean look but I just had to get it going.

12 Strips on 4 elg-200-c1400 = 104,688lm
Will upgrade to 24 strips for 700ma = 115,680lm

Air cooled tubes through the large centre tube.
that looks great! way to make my build look like a chump did the work! :) is yours overkill, maybe, does it look amazing? hell yeah.

seriously well done!

They sell these for $1000 to $1500usd base price for 330 or 660 watt lights. Much more once you start adding all the accessories.
yeah, that is way too much money for those lights. You could make 5 for them for that price

If you mount it on the inside the channel will block light from spreading out wouldn't it?
We are looking at .05" deep channel. And yea it would but these are going to be hung open air (not in a tent) and the american standard style channels have a 25 or so degree angle on thr channel so we want to see if its good. .5" deep is minimal though. Also i want to see if i can rig a mill to grind the channels to have a better angle like 45 degrees

Well I'm sure glad I found this thread and got some new LED's one of my COB's is now a burnt egg. The fan never came on last night and I started to smell burning plastic went and looked at the light and the PICO Molex connector was burnt black and the COB is all grey and "smokey".

Oh bummer dude. Im definately going to run thermal cut off switches with my cobs.

Growmau5 was saying that he still wants cooling even though his heatsinks are passive.

I think ill try to get a fan for the passive design of
The channels

Yup, it's a good idea. It was my initial plan but they've been fine without so i just left them. Now that I've got the wakeup call I'll be ordering some of those. Would you happen to know off the top of your head what Temperature I should order? I was thinking 60degrees C

I was using PC style Molex fan connectors, the female side of that connector was loose, I must have bumped it and not noticed. I took it all apart and made the connection good and tight but too little too late now.

Then I left my cab lights on for an extra 4 hours, so everything is getting chopped down, it's all done anyways.

Rip out those connectors and use wagos.

If 60 is good go for it. They can handle more than that right? 60 sounds alright

I've been meaning to get one of those lazer temperature guns. I'd say they run about 30 ish when the fans are on :) Burnt my finger touching the heatsink of the brunt one last night. I honestly figured the COB would die long before it got that hot... that's not the case. It still works even all smokey grey.

The stupid part is I am using wagos, have a box of 100 downstairs lol. I was using the fan molex because I had them lying around... what a mistake. I got caught up in "Meh, it's working well" and just left it alone.

This is definitely a wakeup call to clean it all up, get all the wires tight and tied down. Tomorrow I'm going to go grab some enclosures for these and start building them a little safer.

edit ordered 55*C off amazon for $5
