DIY with Quantum Boards

I bought a band saw for one small project and it's gotten non-stop use since. Not very big, about a 12" throat, but big enough for most diy projects (just cut bar stock at an angle and you can do any length......).

Between that and the drill press, I can make pretty quick work of most projects.

I did that on my tippy toes on the top of an eight foot ladder. Reaching up as far as I could to cut the rough end off of one of the screen room posts. The saw bound and I lost my balance for a quick second and then that same thought went through my head.

It has not killed me yet and I am almost done!

a band saw would be fine, with the right blade. at the size of material i'm talking about, i was planning to use my scroll saw with a metal blade in it, and maybe hit the edges with my dremel with a sander drum
So is a scroll saw the only kind of saw you have? I am a welder with over 20 years of working with metals of all sorts every day and I can't imagine a worse tool for making a nice presentable cut in a thin aluminum heatsink. I mean honestly I would use a hacksaw before a scroll or band saw.

Who said anything about a scroll saw? You do know what a band saw is, right?

A hacksaw is just a manual band saw....lol!

So what do you recommend for cutting aluminum plate? I haven't found any cheap water saws........

I've used both a chop (miter)saw and a band saw.. Both work well but you get a better edge with the chop saw.. also quicker..
