DIY with Quantum Boards

One of my fave QB board picks - this is a single board: Was this Budzbuddah's first board?

That one is somebody else's , but looks good.
Mine was that MARS HYDRO CONVERSION project that i built. It was my favorite.

It's was this build that won me over to the DARK SIDE ( Quantum Boards ) , it was an interesting build because i powered unit with one of the Mars Drivers. It performed stellar for me , at a time where i almost pulled the trigger on a TIMBER RIG ( which are nice ) and took inspiration from @Growmau5 with his Mars/COB conversion . QBs are a natural for " resurrecting " a shitty blurple light into a heavy hitter ... I was running around @50w-55w in a 3x3 tent and was fucking growing great. So in the long run it literally cost me $75 in cost to MAKE a light that was ORIGNALLYsubpar and a energy waster ......
to a kick ass panel.

If i find another blowed up , dead or craiglist steal on a old mars or galaxy or whatever Bing Bang Wang Chung Chow Mein 900 ... I'm gonna grab it and build another for a supplemental light. I could buy a 5000k and add a veg boost . Or go 2700k / 3000k for bloom booster panel. Even if its a low 50w or so .... The diodes are running somewhere at 184lm compared to COB ( average ) 154lm or so per. It is more efficient at 50-60% of output than other comparable.

don't keep a journal here so I'll post updates here occasionally if that's ok.

The Hammer of the Gods in the rear has exploded with stretch! She grew 4" since yesterday! I can see super cropping in her future....lol! Tent overall looks great! Had to raise the lights again though. I'm going to add a dimmer next grow and run softer in veg. Should get interesting as flowers begin to build. I've no idea how close I'll be able the run the lights, but it won't be long until I run out of height even with these thin lights!

I'm not big on that type of plant training. I like natural plants, especially on a first grow of a strain. So I'm going to have a jungle of a tent, probably lose some bud to over crowding. I don't care! I'm still going to have a lot of bud I believe! WOooooo!

what are the slate heatsinks made out of? how hard would it be to cut them to fit my 4 x 6 inch pcbs?
the angle aluminum homemade units work, but i'm talking about 20 boards in one fixture, thats a lot of cutting and thermal gluing, and a good bit of weight. if i could cut the slates easily, one of the doubles would cover 6 pcbs perfectly

Not trying to buy one, i bought one a while ago and waiting for it to ship. Just think its a really unprofessional way of doing business. They didnt wait to charge my credit card but i have to wait weeks for an "in stock" item to ship? I dont think i am being unreasonable.
No, if I wasn't aware that they didn't ship right away I would annoyed as well. Unless they stated other wise

If using a miter/skill/table(NOT RECOMMENDED because of kickback) saw to cut aluminum, please please please wear proper safety gear. The little bits of aluminum that fly off the blade can cause severe damage if you aren't wearing proper PPE.

Edit: I'm not saying don't do it, just be careful. Like Monkey said, if it'll cut wood, it should cut aluminum like butter too.
