Saving the dog was an example of how studying and learning a new language benefitted me. I chose to learn Spanish because I live in Southern California, and half of the population speaks either English or Spanish or some amount of in between. If I were racist, why would I bother learning Spanish? Wouldn't I insist everybody learn English?
