Build some lights man...no way will you regret it.
I learned everything I ever needed to know, from square one, about DIY LED tech, with direction from this forum, and its many, MANY knowledgeable posters....
I have been "building" lights since 2013, but thanks......

every time I shit On you guys, I just get locked out because you are all so damn sensitive and don't like to hear the truth, so, go ahead and pump yourself up with your overpriced, over hyped, garage built street lights. I'm STILL over here getting 3 units a light with my gavita and my $95 a year bulb.

I have grown with metallic induction, HPS single ended, Double ended, Store bought LED, home made cob led, home made LM561c s6 LED and florescent all inside of 2 years of growing. Feel free to look at my sig (instagram) for my finished stuff.

When I show my stuff to other growers in person they say clearly the LED stuff looks equal or better.

I tried and still try new lights and new things to grow, do you? I can build a 2 lights light at 300 watts each (600 total) that costs me almost the same as 1 DE hps, less power, less heat, looks cooler, fun to work under and I can actually see my plants because HPS makes everything look like it's swimming in piss.

LED's are so much better than HPS that people are getting the same yields with near half the watts used by their DIY LEDs than HPS. HPS. HPS is cheap, easy, tried and true... But the best HPS are about half as good as the best DIY led's currently. In fact, if we grow side by side 2k watts of HPS vs 2k watts of LED I'd almost grow 2x as much and it would possible be "better," I'd need more space or racks (same 4x8 just stacked).

You also need to replace your reflector. Basically, you will grow the same with near 2x the watts, more heat and in 1 year it will cost you more for your lights than me to build mine... Mine that perform twice as good as yours.

Do what you like, it's your garden.

Gavita themselves even recommends a bulb change w/ reflector every 3 months.....a whole year my ass.....otherwise, they grow.....but so will 1000ppfd as glow from the reflection of a shovel.....
they can recommend all they want, i'm still using the same bulb and reflector for more than a year, still getting 3 units a light. what now?

maybe you would have grown better weed, if you stuck with one thing. switching it up all the time means you were chasing something. I just CONTINUALLY grow dank.

I read the 1st page and the last page

so I apologize if ive missed comments

I cant personally speak to flowering or hps comparisons yet...but for veg

I just set up a cobb build using the citi 1825 cobs and a 240watt driver and ran it side by side with a 400 watt T5 (new bulbs)during veg

the cobb light at 150watts out performed the T5 at 400 watts in the same space

the plants under the cob had less stretch, more nodes, thicker stems and bigger fan leaves

I was going to mention the laziness of running a bulb at 1000+ watts for a whole year.

man, you guys really have to reach for stuff,LOL. It runs at 12 hrs a day. 1 year is nothing, especially when I'm still getting the weight I get. Wonder why none of the REAL lighting companies are switching to cobs.
Only riu garage guys who fight among each other.
