So this is my first and new setup, ignore the cfls those will be moved soon. I'm going to post pictures.. but I have 400w mh and hps I also have 1000w mh and hps with an adjustable ballast. Which to use in my 2x3x5 tent?
4" inline, scrubbing with filter venting out.

That 4” fan will work to keep a 400watt cool in that tent.

That’s with a aircooled hood.

1000watt. Would need a 8” to be safe in that small of a tent.

IMO aircooled is the only option for Mh and HPS in tents 4x4 and under.

do you think i could run 1000w, and run the ballast at 600w max with the 4inch? i maintain temps very well with 400w, im assuimng 600w wont be much difference?
other than that, how does the setup look? i have an oscillating fan that i will put in when im further into veg and am using my MH

the first time I looked the pics must have not loaded

you are venting direct out of the room. you may be able to cool the 1000
but if you have the option to dim that's a bonus

just need to keep the bathroom temps in check

as i only have a 400w mh and a 400 watt hps, and a 1000w mh and a 1000w hps, thank you guys for the replies!!

At the size you tent is you don't need any bigger than a 600 max. Yea u could keep it dimmed but I'm not up on dimmable ballasts and their effect on bulbs,

Even with a cool tube or vented hood the glass and surrounds are going to get hot, and that radiates out. Unless your running an AC I don't think you could get away with a 1000w, and its just not needed in your space. I also don't think you have the head room for it.

Something to think about.- 400 for veg and then when you may need the extra light throw in the 1000 w dimmed to 600 for flower (not at full 1000 wattage!). id say that's about the perfect wattage for that tent albeit even a touch over kill. That's great watts per sq ft.

thank you luke!! thats what i have been debating on doing. (p.s my inline fan isnt running in these pics thats why flap is open and its slightly above room temp at 73)

i actually had thought of that, just didnt think it was necessary, i have some reflective thermal bubble insulation, will that work? also, if i get a bigger setup in the future will i need to insulate just like that?

also side note, my ballast and set up is fine on the ground there right? the tile does not retain heat so i assumed it would be okay. correct me if i am wrong please.

Make sure it can take heat before slapping it on there... plasticy foil will just melt.
