Just two days after pot became legal in Canada, RCMP busted a grow-op in western Manitoba.

Winnipegosis and Dauphin RCMP searched a home on Bridge Street in Winnipegosis, Man., on Oct. 19.

Officers found a large illicit cannabis-growing operation and seized 94 plants in various stages of growth, says a news release issued by RCMP on Wednesday.

A man faces the following charges under the federal Cannabis Act:

  • Possession of illicit cannabis.
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing.
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.
  • Cultivating, propagating or harvesting a cannabis plant that is from seed or plant material that is illicit cannabis.
Since marijuana became legal, Manitoba RCMP say officers have laid the following charges for violations under the Cannabis Act, including charges against a 16-year-old who was selling pot at school:

  • 12 charges of unlawful transport in or on a vehicle.
  • Two charges of consuming cannabis in a vehicle.
  • One charge of consumption of cannabis by a young person.
  • Three charges of possessing illicit cannabis (this includes the 16-year-old).
  • One charge of being impaired by cannabis

Addendum....as *most* people are eventually going to TRY Cannabis with a majority enjoying it....MOST of these bullshit laws will not be around in 10 years. Let us hope it takes less time.

LOL. More and more I am convinced it is governments who create 90% of criminals out of thin air with their bullshit legislation. The other 10% are hard-core and would be fuckin crims anyways.
The 'good news' out of this bullshit is most of those are not criminal charges - just revenue collection.

cuz selling pot in school should be legal.....oh, and driving under the influence.
Hopefully these laws dont go away

Cause making totally conjectured statements based on nothing I said should be illegal. See what I did there? Selling to boatguy should be illegal.

I should be able to take my medicine and drive as long as I am not a danger on the road. I should be able to take my medicine in the form of my choosing in the passenger seat of a private vehicle at ANY TIME.

You would be under the influence. Just like alcohol, prescription pills, or whatever. Operating machinery is not recommended.
