Section on the part about buying product that dumbshit was talking about.

SEC. 205. PILOT PROJECT TO ENHANCE TRACEBACK AND RECORDKEEPING WITH RESPECT TO PROCESSED FOOD.

(a) In General- As soon as practicable after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall establish a pilot project to explore and evaluate methods for rapidly and effectively tracking and tracing processed food so that, if an outbreak occurs involving such a processed food, the Secretary may quickly identify the source of the outbreak and the recipients of the contaminated food.

(b) Consultation- In establishing the pilot project under subsection (a), the Secretary shall consult with food processors and relevant businesses of varying size.

(c) Content- The Secretary shall select participants from the processed food industry to run a project which overall shall include 1 or more different types of processed food that have been the subject of outbreaks during the 5-year period preceding the date of enactment of this Act and shall be selected in order to develop and demonstrate--

(1) methods that are applicable and appropriate for small businesses; and

(2) technologies, including existing technologies, that enhance traceback and trace forward.

(d) Report- The Secretary shall report to Congress on the findings of the pilot project under this section, together with recommendations for establishing more effective traceback and trace forward procedures for processed food.

(e) Processed Food- In this section, the term ‘processed food’ has the meaning given such term in section 201(gg) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 321(gg)).

In other words what this means is: The secretary will PICK who the people are going to be that will figure out what controls to implement, you little farmers aren't going to get any say in this. Once they decide on the proper "Control" you can be sure it will not be feasible for the little farmer to comply and he will have to sell his land and go out of business. The big corporation will purchase the land and grow even more GMO food for you to eat.

It has fuck all to do with "Safety" . "Safety is the new code word for removing your liberties while you sit back and ask them to do it. You are more likely to get killed by a terrorist from the mid east than to get E.Coli from some farmers market and die. You are 60 more times likely to be hit by lightning than be killed by a terrorist, perhaps we should have congress make a law against lightning striking people? You will save many times more people from electrocution than food poisoning.

Average of 82 deaths per year due to lightning, 3 by E.coli and 1 by terrorist.

It is just rediculous to think that the government would try and control your garden for your own consumption. If you didn't realize there has been all kinds of problems in the last few years with food bourne illness in processed and unprocessed produce which the the main push behind this bill. They are just trying to implement a better system for food safety. Including our national food supply and inspection of food stuffs from foreign nations such as China.

I don't get why everything has to be a huge conspiracy.

I don't get why people are so hardwired to their ideology that its hard for them to realize that this shit is already taking place in Europe has been wrecking them for years.

Cynicism and Gullibility are one in the same not polar opposites.

The point being everyone should be able to look at their belief structures and be able to question them and think to ones self "hey i might be wrong i may want to look into this".

Except most people either accept what ever is fed to them(gullibility) as truth then dis regard any other information (cynicism), or they have a set belief structure and will not change it regardless of new information (cynicism) while at the same time looking at the so called fairy tale as false and interpretate the reality of the situation to be false ( gullibility).

So again if you continue to use the word conspiracy as if it discredits information, your only restricting your self.

The biggest enemy of knowledge is the illusion of it.

Its pretty obvious you aren't able to comprehend what you read, I mean first off we have SPECIFICALLY said that they aren't trying to control the food you eat out of your own garden, but here you are trying to make the claim that we are. Now due to your reading defect I will have to assume as you read the bill that you actually have no fucking clue what all those words mean.
Its not a conspiracy, no one here said that it was, its a BAD BILL and should be voted down and should not even pass cloture. VERY VERY few people die from foodborne illnesses, its not worth all the expense and regulation to try and bring those numbers down, it is self evident that this bill is something else all together, the wording is so broad that they put too much power into the hands of unelected officials.

Cuz the word "conspiracy" instantly discredits anything and everything...making it safe for the herd to graze...Although they feed and protect...in the end the Dog and the Shepherd are not the friends of the sheep.

The outbreaks of food born illness in the last several years are a direct result of the industrialization of food sources. The stresses of too many animals and the resulting antibiotics to deal with the disease that is associated with this stress allow opportunistic pathogens to dominate. The attempt to manage the waste of these factory farms has it leaking into the water source for food crops and for the solid waste to be spread on fields without allowing microbial breakdown of the pathogens. The problem is that the farm has gotten to large to manage and the cost of doing so, puts profits ahead of food safety...but wait...technology can make this all work!!!...this is where Monsanto comes in to save the day!...making factory farming with immigrant labor possibly profitable and safe for all...or so they would have you believe...remember...they care about people...(the speaker drones in the background: 5 MINUTES UNTIL SOMA DISTRIBUTION...FORM AN ORDERLY LINE TO THE RIGHT)

The hierarchy of the herd makes this all so easy...convince one vocal sheep to follow man and the dog...and you can lead the rest of the flock unquestioningly straight off a cliff.

S. 510 has nothing to do with food safety and everything to do with money. Our congress does very little that it's big time Ag/Pharm/banking lobbyist do not tell them to do. Rather than thinking "gosh my government would not do anything to hurt us" Follow the money. Take the emotion of safe pre-washed salad out of the equation and look at who benefits...I'll give you a clue...Con-Agra, ADM and Monsanto.

To Quote Jello Biafra..."Open your eyes, open your eyes. open your eyes!!!"

Have you heard of one of these food born illnesses coming from a "farmers market"? All the stories I can find point out that every one of them was related to a large industrial food growth operation. This bill somehow protects our ability to consume safe food? How so? It seems to be aimed at making sure that the only food we have available is from the producers that have caused all of the problems...

Thats pretty terrible, who comes up with this garbage, and how does it even get the time of day. Also, why would homeland security be incharge of mom and pop farms, peoples gardens or farmers markets, seems a bit messed. I wonder what the Department of Agriculture has to say about this?
George Soros and the puppet obozo. they are working on global government

Anyone who doesn't see how this bill is a horrible idea should think of things outside of their own perspective, just because it doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense to other people as to why its crap. This is the same shit the UK did with Codex, and that has virtually gutted the natural remedies market there.

If you swallow this crap you better start getting ready for your "smart grid" home where Big Brother knows EXACTLY what, when, and how much electricity you are using...

Call it what you want but these are all steps towards total control of our country by elites that dont give a shit about anyone that isnt them.

Regulation with the express purpose of cutting out any alternative to big corporate farming is a good thing? Hmmm, okay.

Maybe it will raise the price of black market vegetables...look at what it has done for drug trade (big pharma AND illicit)!

I think regulation is a good thing.
This bill will not make our food supply safer...likely less diverse and more genetically corrupt.

Rather than believing what your TOLD...ask WHY are they telling you THIS...lots of stuff happens, but we are told very specific things...for a reason. You are too trusting. Or deceitful...not sure which;)
