It going take a lil longer with the t5 but for hps would go real quick but ur plants would be to linky the t5 will make them bushy and the nodes tight and then I would switch to the hps u be happy with the results

i veg with 4 foot 4 lamp T5 and have 600w hps for flower. I have vegged with 600w mh bulb as well.
the 600w mh bulb will make the node spacing really tight and the T5 seems to have double if not three times the space between nodes. The T5 makes the plant grow taller faster but with half the nodes, but it only uses 200w compared to the 600 and you dont need to air cool it.

Get a 600 watt MH then switch to HPS although I grow with 1000's
I also use T8 6500k 4' lights for my new clone tent

and i was actually thinking about starting clones and such under a light that made them grow nice and tall then once rooted n stuff switch to a bulb that grows em nice n tight but then flower with something that makes em space out once the nodes are grown ... oh and why is gweddo saying the opposite of you lol? maybe different strains reacting to light differently?
@REALSTYLES - i love the size of your mothers! your old setup is cool too, I intend to also grow my mother strains big n juicy so i can take huge cuttings for clones and then rootnbloom im also going to be doing genetic testing and splicing stems, selective breeding along with herm testing O_O ima try and do some crazy stuff with my strains
Once my main thread is ready to be linked to my profile with my siggy ill do it, but im not done setting up my stuff... ive been doing a total re-design of my room and almost killed my Gods Gift with a fucking 2x4... completely snapped off the main stem almost 2 months into flower :'( i honestly cried a bit when it happened but i did everything i could think of to stick it back together and saved some other branches that came off by smothering them in rooting gel and putting em back into veg... they are doing better than the main stem that im trying to let heal so far :'( im growing 8 different strains

I would just go with the 600 and get a cool tube and keep the light within 2ft and ur nodes will be tight enough and ull be done faster then t-5.....

I use 400's and 600's for veg, and before to long all of them will be 600's. Flowering under 600's and 1000's..
T5's are a waste of money as far as I'm concerned.
Plants stretch to much and the branches are way to thin for the types of grows I'm doing.
I like my nodes tight and my branches thick enough to carry the weight.

ur right it does depend on the type of grow. Im running a T5 now cause im doing a SOG. The mothers grows upward fast can take clones and throw them under the T5 too and then rooted clones veg upward fast then more clones etc etc.
If you want alot of clones for SOG T5 is perfect.
If you want a big monster bushy wide plant then MH is best.

he's talking bout vegging with a 600w hps bulb, im talking about vegging with a 600w MH bulb. Ive never vegged with an hps only flowered so i dunno what it would do compared to a T5 or a MH bulb@two2brains - nice brains

well, thatl teach me to pay attention to what im reading lol
ill show you what vegging with HPS is like then through my grow journal, im about to finnish making it in the corresponding section of the RIU forums... it will also serve as my records for my grow journey ^_^
