Rant: Dumb Facebook Posts

It seems some of my friends are incapable of posting an original thought on facebook. In addition to a daily multitude of posts about fish, mafia, farms, and 'friend questions' I am forced to consider nonsense posts like this one.

we all wish to have a new car...new phone...to lose weight...a person who has cancer only wants one thing...to fight their cancer...I know that 97% of you guys won't put this on your wall...but 3% of my friends will...Put it on your wall in honor of someone who died from cancer or who's fighting against it now

It's considerate that someone feels sympathy for cancer patients, but shouldn't they at least list a name? How is this post offering any support at all? And, how do you give statistics on something that hasn't happened yet? If 97% of people are going to ignore the post, then why post it? Wouldn't that mean that only 3% of your friends know someone with cancer? So are you complaining that 97% don't know anyone with cancer?

Hrmm I guess the statue should have read "Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, as long as they speak english and believe in jesus." This poster wants to appear patriotic, but instead demonstrates anti-american sentiments. Since when is america about exclusion, rejection, and religion? Did Jesus speak english?

I don't understand how it is people do not consider the things they say.

I'm one of the very few people i know that has nothing to do with facebook ...For many reasons ... and i'm ok with that !... But my friends don't seem to be lol

They complain about it a lot ... But if i say a single bad thing about it ( and i can say a lot of bad things ) they are up in arms .

I respect other peoples freedom to choose to do things .... But with facebook ...it just makes NO sense to me .

Same with Twitter ... But i have to say i had a bit of a change of heart about Twitter when i witnessed its power to connect people for revolution ... it's a powerful tool that if used right could save the human race :)

Shit, sounds like we've got the same "friends". If it's not something like you described, it's Christian for Israel (never will understand that one) or fucking Herman Cain. I guess all of my Cain supporter friends think I've forgotten that they were the same people posting racsist jokes when Obama was elected. Makes me wonder why I was ever friends with some of these idiots in the first place.

I've gotten so sick of people on there that I've made it a game to see how many friends I can lose with some of my posts.

I know it's kinda fucked up of me but some people are so stupid it's intolerable.

Most of my close friends are dead. I got on FB and people were friending me who I would say hi to but thats it.
So 35 years later I get a friend thing from them.
Idont know FB well so I write back,
Gee thanks for thinking of me how are ya?

No response. Dickheads are telemarketers or want me to sign up for charities or pep talks.
Facebook is the devil and the gov runs it.

that's facebook. don't expect much. my friends actually say unique things but a lot of it is about their kids and no one wants to see pix of someone's kids lol.

I've been on FB for 2 years and now I'm ready to disinheret half my famlie!
Some time it's best not to just know whos doing what with who and bla bla for christs sake get a fn room
and by the way shes your Moms age LOL!!

This is the only site I go on, and it's purely for horticulture knowledge.
...except for the toke n talk section, that's for entertainment when I'm working.

I've had a facebook and deleted it a long time ago. That shit is for the birds.
Whats worse is hearing my friends talk about facebook when we're together. keep that virtual shit at home..

everyone always tries to talk me into making a facebook. but i just never saw a reason to. if i want to talk to you, ill send you a text. why do i have to post it so everyone else can see what were talking about?

When I was dealing I would always get threatening texts, but when I'd call the person and chew them out they wouldn't say a word.

So glad I never got a facebook... It's funny though, when people ask for my fb and I say I've never had one, I think they think I'm some kind of creeper, or weirdo LOL.

I hate society.

I post photo updates of what I'm doing, like when I bake a cake or when I go to the field to hotbox my tent X3

I also just post little thoughts, quotes, anecdotes or observations I make of the world on my wall- I could never understand the point of Twitter when there are status updates.

My school is on Facebook, and teachers can give us assignments and announce field trips, assemblies or timetable changes through it. Also good for getting phone numbers, sharing interesting links and looking for those you lost contact with.

It's become cool to hate facebook like it was cool to hate myspace- two examples of an Internet Palm Sunday. Oh well, I can live without it, but I'd like to think I post interesting or vaguely useful content...
