Democracy fails, but Communism and Socialism triumph!

If Communism and Socialism are so bad, why do we borrow money from China and trade with Socialist countries like Canada? If China's system is so corrupt, why do we buy their child/slave labor products?

Also, if the USA is worried about Socialism why is Canada doing better in the economic recovery? They obviously must be doing something right where Democracy is failing.

I am not huge into Politics, but just a thought.

all the countries with the highest living standard (people actually like living there without having to resort to proud barbarism)

are socialist countries (that never went communist)
china is only doing as well as it is, cause it embraced more capitalist ideas.

socialism is only capitalism and communism, married together, taking the best from both.

socialism is being improved upon too and will pave the way for some new thought.

...and socialism is democracy btw, ...you are confusing democracy with capitalism.

Many of the most successful countries, ( for middle class),are socialist. Besides the brainwashed bs you see, do you really think 400 people in this country need 50% of its wealth? 150,000,000 others must live without medical, vacations, just a decent car and decent house just so those 400 can be that freaking rich? Please dont spew those lies about how they work hard and earn it, Millions in America work hard and deserve a decent living but there is only so much Pie and if some are greedy and unfair eat half that pie, the others suffer, ..

GOP took billions in pay offs to sell the 99% out and give it all to the 1%.. Democracy is dying in America and being replaced with a fascist Corporatism form of Government. ( and people whine about socialism? )

You guys have a really funny way of looking at things, first Canada is not really socialist...second, as sso said, socialism is democracy essentially, capitalism is a republic, the term democracy is used wrongly very often, its used as if Democracy is the essence of freedom when its simply not the case, the essence of freedom is Liberty. I mean its what they taught us in school and its the excuse they sold us for the wars so I can't blame the people for this. They taught us that Democracy means freedom..very skewed..what about the other 49%...

Example what about those of us who voted here to legalize marijuana in California last year and lost because of 2% more people voted NO you must suffer? Thats not freedom.

The problem in America is that we have neither. We have neither real capitalism nor do we have real socialism. I disagree that you can mix the two. I want to say that its sad how people forget how many deaths communism has caused, the numbers are smudged but its higher then any society, china for example, when people protest the government just murders them all and harvests their organs to sell. If you want examples of crimes against humanity brought about by communism you need look no further then china and stalin.

Effectively what we have is crony capitalism and crony socialism, I believe the only way to restore the republic and go back to the American dream, back to freedoms that our founders once envisioned that we need to have real capitalism, not capitalism that caters to a select few, we need free markets and sound money. The founders also predicted that 'Democracy' would be the downfall of our republic and they are right.

The demon it is crony capitalism, crony socialism - not real capitalism or socialism. America is capitalist by philosophy so we can't have socialism or communism, we have to fix the capitalism we have in order to preserve liberty and the American Dream, otherwise this just isn't America anymore, liberty really is dead, and they will start killing protesters and harvesting their organs while people go starving and free speech/religion/etc... will become a thing of the past.

So for those of you advocating socialism and communism here, please just get on a boat and go to china, your destroying the American dream:

well, i disagree that we cant mix the two. socialism is basically, you pay extra tax so Everyone gets healthcare and education.
government runs essential companies (power, water, banks, phones, emergency services..)

couldnt tell you exactly how it failed in america, how it failed in iceland (heh, started calling it little america 10 years ago)

was, all the government run companies were sold to install a "free market" claiming that everything would be so much cheaper.
well, what happened was that the banks were sold to people, that borrowed from the banks themselves, to buy them.. so you can see what sorta "free market" it really was.
pay went up and lots of folks got richer for awhile.
price of everything went up too and the poor got poorer.

mostly what the "newly rich" did, was try to outfight the old wealthy clans and buy as much shit as they could, all with loans.
everyone in the country was cheered on to take loans for everything (now available to anyone!)

by the government as well (crony capitalism eh?) and they built a lot of gilt and fancy shit.

but like i said, all built on loans, essentially a bubble that got bigger and bigger and then just burst.
havent really bothered to keep up with this and abroad, but it looks like thats pretty much what happened in the west.
and most similarily to the states (iceland was even called little america the other day by some economist on some show (forget whom or where, found it on some icelandic newsserver i occasionally look at)

in iceland anyway, it was all fueled by national pride and ignorance.

here´s the thing though, the free market did fuel the country into becoming a top living standard country (still is , mostly)
but it only did that because the country never gave up socialism fully, kept the free hospitals and education (just had to make alot of cuts now to pay for the loanbubble)

and the free market was a benefit, the only problem was, they gave all the support to the big (supposedly to help the small (lol the Trickle down effect..mofos..)

and gave up essential companies that the people owned before (top service at cheap prices now 3x the price and bit worse (its a small country, people would shit if it was alot worse, the 3x in price is hard enough to swallow but there is just so much to worry about now, thanks to trying out capitalism so fully lol)

but before this happened, the market was stifled by crony clanism. certain families owned everything and still do (just lost alot of power, though regained much, the future is uncertain for them though)
and you needed to kiss the right ass to amount to anything, even if not much.

...

i think possibly, if they had installed the free market, focusing on helping small businesses instead, helping the community thrive, diverting more money to help the poor, instead of the rich.
and never sold the Essential companies.

it might have made for a nice place to live..why help the poor? well, its either that or build more prisons and graveyards.

why small business instead of big? well, the easier it is to start your own company, the more idea´s get support. (with some rules into place to limit the potential fuckup lol)

do big companies, really Need support?

what do i mean with helping small business? money? no, but around here, businesses need to go through alot of regulations that cost alot of money, all made so to limit competition to the rich.
free market makes sense there.

limiting the power of money, with money, there is always going to be corruption ( always gonna be rich and poor and poor sucks in comparison) but its ridiculous when 2% of the population make all the rules (in their favor)

ehh, at least it gets better everyday (the brighter light just makes the shadows deeper, though difficult to tell yourself that sometimes)

Yep, and the US is wanting to install a 2nd oil pipeline to Canada, but a lot of states don't want it running through their back yards. They say it could provide in the 40's% of the US's demand for oil. I would rather pay Canada for oil than some Arab.

The Canadian banking system is different than the USA's. If you buy a house and it is foreclosed on you will never get another mortgage again-period (at least that's what my aunt in London, Ont. says). So their risk of what was done to our system won't happen there. Their banking is very, very conservative. That is one reason. imho.

What makes me sick to the stomach is we borrowed money from the Chinese and turned around and loaned that money to the eu. And when they collapse they most certainly won't pay us back.

I'm Canadian. I'm socialist. Canada is not socialist. If you want to be LESS insulting, you could, I dunno, learn the first fucking thing about the second largest country on the planet that happens to be your biggest trading partner. We're run by a knuckle-dragging redneck moron who makes George Bush look like he wasn't a criminal sociopath. 'Socialist'! Gimme a fucking break.

Or instead of doing that we could start using the oil from the other pipeline instead of selling it to japan. How Convenient politicians never mention this, I think they just want more oil to sell to japan, I believe that something like over 50% of our oil is sold overseas.

And what is China going to do? They are so fucked at this point, they have no margin of error.

Maybe if they stopped suppressing their currency, or stopped propping up shell-companies on our stock exchange, or any number of dirty tricks they currently employ, the trade "defecit" wouldn't be so high.

What will China do? They have plenty of chips to bargain with. Perhaps they sell all their treasuries in one big chunk and send the world into a irreversible depression? Maybe stop exporting all goods to the USA? Most likely they will just continue to let us cut our own throats.
