Weed Nerd #66 - was the best episode so far IMO. Great info and great tunes. Was very entertaining. I was thinking about Ripping them all from the site and making my own personal Weed Nerd compilation Blu Ray disc. What an item to have!! Keep up the great work Sub. & fellow Weed Nerds, Nug Buckets and Murph.. you guys do some great work. Truly inspirational photos showing top notch genetics grown in favorable conditions using modern digital photography. What a great f*cking world we live in.

Best Quote from the show - "Do the work, you'll get the results."

I myself am on a Golden Ticket pheno hunt. I absolutely have to find a cut of Chernobyl that resembles my old cut from years past.

If I can find her again I'll be pleased as a peach.

Keep up the good work everyone.

its funny how much grief, legislation, and countless government propaganda has been wasted on a member of the plant family. Most people do not even realize hops used in beer is a cousin of the cannabis plant. lol

If I may comment, I believe that the overall goal is to streamline photosynthesis, or rather, help plants use their energy as efficiently as possible. This is the basic idea behind thinning out shaded shoots, as you pointed out. These shoots will receive enough sustenance to tax the energy supply, but not enough to produce quality product. Removing the undergrowth can also help air flow, which increases efficiency in the rest of the plant. The idea behind removing fan leaves is similar. Fan leaves have several important functions vital to photosynthesis, so generally it is a significant hinderence to efficiency if you remove them. In some cases though, the leaves cause so much shade that they overcome their benefit, and themselves become hindering to photosynthesis (on the bud site they are shading). In these cases I try my best to tuck the leaf out of the way if at all possible, if not I remove it. This doesn't mean every leaf blocking light should go, just the ones you feel (if any) are hindering efficiency. Any fan leaves that are part of the undergrowth get removed with the shoots.

This is how I understood it.
:weed:What up Nerds. Heisenberg you have a good point. Before my son was born I ran a 25 site NFT gutter set-up and would not remove the whole fan leaf but individual fingers on each leaf. This wouldn't wreck the bio-balance of the plant and would increase light greatly where needed. I would always try to have between 3-5 fingers left on said fan leaves that needed removing. Not all leaves got trimmed but some that were heavy shaders got "reduced". Maybe that needs to be a sub category of thinning, "Leaf Reduction".

Have a Dank Day everybody:bigjoint:

Hey Nerds. Just reading a new book out called Heart of Dankness. Its a search of the word Dank and its history. Behind the scenes look at the Cannabis Cup and breeding dank strains. I'm about half way and its a good read. TGA gets an honourable mention, particularily Mz Jill and her Jillybean. Some good stories. One by Aaron of DNA about how one of their growers sold their LA Con genetics to another breeder and it became Mt. Cook (he calls it Mt Crook). I got it off Amazon

so 2 of my ace of spades plants got burned by my supersoil, while one loved it and is now needing a top dress. i figure the ones that got burned the most are the more BCS dom phenos, and the other is a JTR dom. they are burned so badly they wont have a chance to gain fat buds since all of the fan laves will be gone. oh well a least one of them is doing well and i have taken cuttings of each so now i know they require less super soil for future grows.
