Ex-CIA Director David Petraeus told lawmakers Friday that classified intelligence showed the deadly raid on the U.S. Consulate in Libya was a terrorist attack, but that the administration withheld the suspected role of specific al-Qaida affiliates to avoid tipping off the terrorist groups. The recently resigned spy chief explained that references to terrorist groups suspected of carrying out the violence were removed from the public explanation of what caused the attack so as not to tip off the groups that the U.S. intelligence community was on their trail, according to lawmakers who attended the private briefings.
LOL, it's a conspiracy!!!!

macco's razor dictates that the answer can not be so simple, it must be necessarily complex and involve a conspiracy and a white house cover up.
We will see. If there is a simple explanation, that fits all the facts, I'd be very interested. The Occam's Razor principle, (lex parsimoniae) is the law of parsimony, economy, or succinctness.

I suspect there is a simple explanation, and that is what is being covered up.

Do you know the USA has lost more foreign diplomats than Generals?.........It's a dangerous job, especially in Libya!

No, this is only the beginning. I suspect there IS a simple explanation, and that is what is being covered up.

I see that it's dying out of the news headlines. Maybe they will conclude the hearings quickly & move on.
People died for the USA, so sad!

Not so simple. There were screw ups. Our system is designed to identfiy all mistakes and get them documented for the future.

The Press isn't driving it, this time, like Watergate or Iran-Contra. But, it is still a Pub controlled House. If it was all Dems, you would be quite correct.

Brother I saw lots of guy's killed in Vietnam because of mistakes! We didn't spend weeks & months investigating each one. We have enemies around the world that hate us because of our global policies. They will kill us if they can. I knew this back in 1969!

I know, bro, but this is Politics. Ugly, but it's all we got.

IAC, I missed the 'Nam. Drew a 357 in lottery numbers. (not a .357 in the induction center)

But, don't those action reports go up, in detail? Are not the screw-ups still being poured over at the War College?

No blame in this, unless really egregious, like Mi Lai, right? But, politics is different. Payback rules.

No, there really will be an after action conclusion to what went wrong in the months before.

The real unanswered question is why was he sent there to meet the Turkish Envoy. Why not Tripoli?

And we have facts that say he reported he was a hunted man, and they made an attempt in the month
before on him, in Tripoli.

- he didn't take his Marine guards
- his personal security was withdrawn, a Col. Woods, no relation.
- Why?

So, don't worry, nothing will stick to Obama, but some heads will have to roll.

Maybe just maybe what was going on at the consulate (fancy word for a house) is above and beyond your pay grade

...some heads will have to roll.
i have a good idea of where to start.

For fiscal 2013, the GOP-controlled House proposed spending $1.934 billion for the State Department’s Worldwide Security Protection program — well below the $2.15 billion requested by the Obama administration. House Republicans cut the administration’s request for embassy security funding by $128 million in fiscal 2011 and $331 million in fiscal 2012. (Negotiations with the Democrat-controlled Senate restored about $88 million of the administration’s request.) Last year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned that Republicans’ proposed cuts to her department would be “detrimental to America’s national security” — a charge Republicans rejected.

I'm quite sure it is above your pay grade. But, the Congress is for oversight. They will manage it, not you.
