ok so theres this new light out call the LED UFO light since its new its only out at 400 watts and its just one round light thats mh and hps combined and they say its made especially for marijuana plant growth so i was just wondering if anyone has one or has used one on a grow before just trying to figure out if there worth it cuz they are around like 700$

A good bulb is ranged 80-12 depending on wattage , ballasts and hoods are expensive though.

at the local hydro store here they sell a 150 watt hps system complete for 139.99, a decent price and good for 1 massive plant =P

My buddy actually got one, and he brang it over in the box still, and when you plug that thing in, its soooo damn bright... i was really really impressed, but not for 600 dollars im not that impressed... I love the fact that it generates almost no heat at all, and only uses 92 watts i think.... All i have to say is in person, it was WAY bright, if they were cheaper i think i would convert over to LED with a whole bunch of UFOs

LMAO, you watch a tainted youtube video done by an HID outfit and you are now professor emeritus on grow technology?

The manufacturer of the ufo grow is in Shenzhen China. I met them at a trade show in Guanzhou China. I was AMAZED at the visit. i bought one, and its 50 times better than any technology out there. Google high end european growers that do flowers, exotic plants, etc. Those multi million dollar greenhouse growers threw away their old lamps including HID, mercury, etc. The LED technology in the UFO style is 20X more powerful and effective, consumes 80% less power, and I also had the pleasure of talking to a Dutch professor specializing in horticulture. he is on the board at the manufacturers location.

Granted, there are cheap LED panels out there. But, even the cheap panels do help tremendously. With LED technology, you minimize the risk of fire associated with high temp old lamp technology. Additionally, the heat footprint is undetectable by nosey ass investigators who drink and drive and kill people and yet they arrest someone for smoking a joint.

I urge all of you to stay off bullshit youtube heresay videos, stay off dumbass websites with posts from morons who watch a 2 minute video and are now expert in their field cause they can use google (LMAO). DO YOUR HOMEWORK, DO YOURSELF JUSTICE, STOP LISTENING TO PEOPLE and experiment on your own.

The local hydro store got some of those in, plus another 100w LED light just like it. He likes the other one better becayse the Procyon gets hot to the tough but the other doesn't at all.

Anyhow, he has been growing tomatoes with them, like he always does in the store and he isn't happy with the growth. He said in the same amount of time he got like 3 inches of growth under the LEDs he usually gets 7 under his HID lights.

The overall yield per Watt is higher with LEDs, but they cost more per Watt to buy. I agree with Flower Pimp, they're great low-heat supplements for HPS / MH. And you don't have to re-duct your reflectors to add a few.

Has anyone done experiments as to how close you can put an LED to the plants?

lol. I just picked this one up off e-bay a few weekend ago. it was only 150.00 and I complained and got my money refunded. I was gonna leave rotten feedback and I think He knew it. Plus shipping took a While, almost an extra week. It came from Canada and I'm in Washington.... a state below? WTF? But I can't decide If I want to trial test the baby or switch back and forth from 400w HPS. I read in a mag, that when using a 90w LED, the potency is substantially different then with MH or HPS. And Grams per Kilowatt of power used is way better obviously. I do agree with going with the procyon 100, I think it was Highlighted in a past grow issue recently. I picked up the new growers guide on the stand and found a huge spread specifically about the new Tech of the 90w LED UFO. But theres were way more expensive. More like $3-500.00 bucks. And Procyon is legit, but over 600 dollars. Wow. that seems nutty? However, think of the savings in your power bills and your ventilation equipment that you really now do not need to purchase. No centrifugal fans and flexi-tubing/thermostat controllers/ ect.

dude they have no heat signature at all.... place the leave on the mother-f...seriously I could put my face against it.but, it burns ur eyes it's so bright.sunglasses barely are enough to look at inner blue light bulbs... it is neat. the mini fans run the whole time.
