Because chemical weapons are brutal and efficient. You get all of the kills of a major conflict without the casualties. There's a reason such weapons are banned under the Geneva Convention; they work quite well on a physical and psychological level without the need to risk lives of the person dropping the bombs or lobbing the shells.

What they need to do is overhaul the food stamp program and make it more like WIC. With WIC there are certain items custom chosen for your needs and that's all you can buy. Not on the list? You gotta pay for it yourself. Right now you can buy almost anything edible with food stamps. There's very few restrictions. I managed several grocery stores over the years and watched people load up on junk food instead of staples.

I completely agree, it shows the bad side of a good program and the tentacles of big pharma and fast food putting profit first and aiming at the weakest. The food stamp program should maintain health based requirements on purchases. The opportunity to combat heart disease and prevent other causes of disability would be immediately visible and reduced. I received EBT before it was wide open, and it is something I agree with, but people see this kind of transparent profiteering and I see why they complain.
