dont worry, your essentially mixing the same stuff thats in top quality soil. The main differerence is your making your soil more controllable. If you were to grow 6"-7" in Ocean Forest, than there should no doubt at all using one of the these mixtures. These are way less HOT than Ocean forest. I used to grow with FoxFarm everything..... Now im all organic. One of my favorite mixes is " the simplest.. Is 1/3 perlite, 1/3 peat moss. 1/3 organic soil, then fert or mixx in a little high N guano and worm casting if necesarry. Just check your PH before you add the plant to your soil snd your good to go... laters

hey bro, i thought i would throw out some of my soil mixes to you just to roll over. I've grown in all of these and they work great: 60% organic potting soil, 15% perlite, 10% horticulture sand, 5% worm castings....2nd-30%worm castings, 30% vermiculite, 20% perlite, 20% sphagnum moss....3rd 40%compostes soil, 30% worm castings, 20% perlite, 10% high N guano.....4th 1/3 perlite, 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 organic soil, then fert with high n guano, worm casting, and kelp...... Blood meal will raise PH, Bone meal will lower PH, Dolomite lime powder will balance your PH to an even(odd) 7. That is usually applied in a half of cup scenario if your PH is drasticaly low and your working with alot of soil. Also Bone meal is great for phosphorus. If u want real simple just mix 75% your soil with 25% worm castings. Then concentrate on nuting from there.
