Will this affect the way the plants are grown? Meaning will it have any effect on sex and what not?

Well I went ahead and dropped the light down on them a little more. We'll see if that helps. They are only 5 days old..

Funny you say that, I have several white russians that just sprouted and they are really lanky... I have a T5 light about 1.5 feet or less away. Its the 4 bulb 2 footer and they are really tall with barely their first set of leaves. I feel is I put the light any closer it will be to much for them.
