what´s the confusion about dude??..there is no reason to be confused, u have ure plants a bit streched not because u use HPS orange/red spectrum during the entire grow but because u have the distance to far away, if ur plants were getting toasted (with temps reaching 100ºf no wonder) u...

Veged 6 weeks under 400w HPS (started at 12" ended at 6"....do they look streched??????????????

If ur getting signs of mold ure not venting enough, ur RH should be high and by the looks of it the temp should be high aswell, get decent VENTILATION...also ALLWAYS pH the water anything below 6.3 or above 6.8 and u´ll be looking at probable nute lock up....check the charts in my sig

Oh and btw the math on lummens is wrong aswell, a bulb looses HALF of its lummens per foot distance...so if a 1kw produces 140 000 lummens it will put out 70 000 at 12", 35 000 at 24" bla bla bla....

But also a bit more expensive..at least here...anyway, fluoros are a good light source with, imo an excellent quality/price ratio...i use them for veg and clones and im real happy with the results...i supose i could yield a bit more if i used HID to veg, but i also want to keep my electric bill...

Yeild is allways hard to predict. dif growers = dif grow conditions, i veg all my plants (except clones) during 6 weeks (no matter what height) then i switch them to flower under a 400w HPS...so far (after 4 successfull harvests) my average yeild has been around 100g´s per plant i started...

Depends on the growroom height...if u dont have probs with height let the plants grow free during 6-8 weeks

If the pump has 2 outlets better, use each line with airstones....just have a look in my pics thats exactly what i´m using 1 pump with 2 outlets and 2x4" airstones....that little gadget along with the nutes in the water and some fluoro tubes kicks ass....
