  • i would love to cross the albino rhino with a kush of some kind. i dont know which would get the best results though. albino rhino mother kush father will give it the short kushy size and the resistance and toughness of the rhino. good genetics make good genetics.
thanks for adding me. checked out some of your grows, good to see people passing the knowledge of GROW! have a good halloween.
hey there, nice to see people on riu from spokannabis. i like what your doing i use those same grodan cubes. could you point me in the direction to where you got those cube covers or are they homemade?
I have followed your ak47 grow but am really curious how the best way you have found to setup those grodan cubes is. I see you use trays but what systems do you use as a resevoir and such. Give me the low down cause I am about to go big and am really considering that method.
    hey ru8fru,
sorry about the slow response, i might do a journal in the future, im moving soon and took those seedlings to a buddies place where they shall remain until done, once i get established into my new place, i can set up a nice system, and take some cool pic's for everyone to enjoy.. until then, i'm just reading the threads, i was checking out the DWC club thread. looks interesting.

    easy.
course man, if a man cant find enjoyment in growing pot, what world do we live in haha ;). I'd say go with whatever setup you think would be the simplest, I like to keep things simple then work each grow on what I can improve on and what ive learned and did wrong. You know alot of biology eh? I think I wanna get a degree in animal biology or somethin like that lol. But yeah, you should consider doing a journal so everyone can enjoy your progress.
forgot to mention, i'm a noob, but have a large amount of knowledge on biology and chemistry, and understand a lot of the grow faq sheets, so i'm not new to the practical side of things, however i do not have a "few grows under my belt yet" so i'm just trying to have some fun with it all man. you know lol
Awesome, thanks for the fast responce ru8fru

ya, (drain to waste) seems a lot better now, after what you said about showering and sitting in your own waste. good point!

I had 10 pure afghan seeds i started a while ago in a 2x4 ft ebb and flow table in 1inch RW plugs, then moved them into the 4 inch RW cubes, flooding the table twice in a 24 hour period 1 inch up the cubes, i left them under 2 48inch shop lights x 2 at 80watts per fixture, = 160watts total for roughly 3 weeks, then switched to a HPS bulb, and found the roots that were growing out of the cubes were getting slightly dried out because the light was getting to them "I didnt bother getting RW slabs or buying bigger cubes to place the 4 inch cubes on" my own stupidity..

so i followed the Mr Green videos on youtube, and filled the intire table with hydroton rocks "to give the roots somewhere to grow", you can already guess what happend. lol first flood some of the hydroton rocks over flowed out of the table, seems Mr Green forgot to tell people hydroton fucking floats. lol, anyways...

the roots knitting themselves together, and during flowering i found a few males, and could not seperate the females! so i clipped a few clones from the females and tossed the whole project in the garbage! "was pissed"....

this time im going to do things differently
I have 20 seedlings already in 4inch cubes 1 week in now, and i'm debating if im going to use the drip spike drain to waste in RW slabs, like you, or

i'm going to place some pots inside the 2x4 table filled with hydroton and place the cubes in and feed with halo drippers, not sure what i'm going to do yet.....................

i have two more weeks untill i switch the lighting to 12/12 and seperate the females, so i'm still in debate, have any suggestions man?? any help is always appreciated amego! :)

    p.s good lookin out ;)
Hey whats up, ok onto your questions.

    1. Yes drip to waste. And no im using reg. tap water. I dont even like the idea of recycled water. Thats primarily why I like the idea of drip to waste over other hydro setups. I dont like the idea of my plants having to just sit is their waste, its just like taking a shower then reusing the dirty water on urself, doesnt sound good at all. I generally grow by what the plants want, they most of the time tell me if im doing something they dont like and I determine what to do based on that.

    2. When I flush I just flush with PH'd water, nothing else. When I just do a regular flush (not my two week flush prior to harvest) for the amount I flush I just do it once. But id say anything built up in there, salt deposits or whatever, will definitely be flushed out within two good size flushes. And after the flush I go right back to where they were at, the aks can handle the nutes so I go back to full force right away.

    3. I dont really go by node growth. I will generally give 4 week veg, sometimes 3 somtimes 5, depends on the specific grow. You can veg for as long as you want if its not an autoflowering strain.

    Good luck!
hey, I subscribed to your thread, the AK's look killer! not a fan of haze. = to much work lol
just had a couple of questions, if you don't mind...

1, your obviously doing "flood to waste dripper style" are you using R.O water? because that's a lot of nutes and water that are going to waste, could you not recycle that water, and hit it with some PH up or down (depending on what the PH tester reads) after the water has drained back into your res, (after every feeding of coarse) then say after 1 week, start with a fresh new nutes and water? just thought that might save you some money on nutes and R.O water - "if your buying the water too"

    2. when you "flush" your RW out, i'm assuming the EC would read 0, ?!?? "not familiar with EC, i use TDS tester" however my question is "when you flush, how many days? two-three-four? and when you hit the plants with nutes again, do you just feed full strength solution? or start them back on 1/4 strength, and gradually work your way back to full strength?

    3. just one more quick question, how many nodes do you wait for the plants to have before switching them to MH/HPS lighting?

    thanks man.
