DIY with Quantum Boards

You could mout them on a board as well but i would put the splice points in a junction box

and then just connect the splice box to the timer box? that sounds clean, and I could just use a short nipple to get the power into the splice box from the timer. I was trying to eliminate the need for the extra junction by making the timer the Jbox. I will have to draw something up and show my initial design thoughts

Chopped this thing today, not happy with the pheno what so ever but noticed something odd (it's much more apparent in person). For some reason the left third or so of the tent has SIGNIFICANTLY smaller colas, all of them, while the entire rest of the plant filled out much much more, to the point that allot of them were starting to fall over.

The only difference is I have a tower fan hung horizontally blowing at the cannopy. Everything to the right of the line below got hit directly with the fan, while everything to the left was below the fan and not moving much. This is the only thing I can think of. Now I have a ton of air movement in there so it wasn't completly stagnet, just not getting slammed directly by the fan.

Had the 4x QB 288's down to a total of 200w in the end on this one, the next guys are getting ready under a 2 board 260 kit and they probably wont ever see 300w like the last ones (burnt them bad).

They are sitting at about 140w right now and the QB is at the top of the tent.

To the untrained eye, it looks like less light. Board level? Board centered?

Hey everyone! I wanted to ask a question it's for anyone using QB's is anyone using UV lights? I have just been reading a lot lately about UV producing more resinous plants along with more Tricome production. does anyone recommend any UV lights out there?
Happy Growing!

Hello everyone couple of questions. I have tried my best to read approximately 170 pages of this thread and just need a few things cleared up.

I have 2 304 QB's I plan on using for a 3x3 Scrog of Bodhi's SSDD

I am unsure exactly which driver to use, I'm trying to replicate the 260w kit. A meanwell 240-???? Should be used? I am unsure of the exact model I can safely use. I am comfortable with an "A" model to adjust the power.

All help is much appreciated.

Okay for shits and giggles until my other drivers get here i wanna play with what i have and eventually play with the other drivers until i decide a driver / board config. ( which i think is going to be 4xqb 288 on a 320-54a adjusted to about 300 watts for a 3x3)

I ordered 9 Qb 288 boards and one hlg-240h-54B driver. ( p.s) i might just do a grow with all 9 boards on this driver about 5inches away from canopy just to see what happens and post pics here.

Is this the proper way to wire it
Boards-wire_large.png.jpg

Also im going to do the exact same thing with a an hlg-320h-54A driver on 9 boards.

Just wanna make sure that this is the correct way to wire.

And i have aother question.
With the HLG-240h-54b it says 90 to 305,127 to 431 VAC|VDC
Same with the HLG-320h-54A , i dont really understand what any of that means, but will they have enough to light up 9 boards ?

The last numbers your asking about are the input voltage. Whether you have 120v or 240v the drivers will work on both.

How many MA are you driving each diode with those drivers?

Hey everyone. I'm looking to get around 600W of QB into my 4 X 4' tent. Would the following setup crack it?

4 X QB304
2 X HLG-320H-C1400A / HLG-600H
1 X Slate 5 Quad

Or if you guys could advise me otherwise I'm all ears. Many thanks in advance.

If i run all 9 on that first driver it will be around 500ma each board

I would go with 2 slate 2 triples

Figured it was high time I posted a pic of my current QB grow.

Clockwise from the top (rear) left: 3x HSO Blue Dream, 1x HSO Black D.O.G.

Organic soil grow in 3 gallon smart pots. Vegged in my smaller grow cab under the same 3500k QB that they're currently flowering under.

Some odd yellowing on middle leaves of the Blue Dream at the front right. Also the Black D.O.G. is recovering from a calmag deficiency (didn't anticipate how hungry it would be). All in all though, they're doing pretty well. Need to do a little trimming up though.

So that's 4 plants in a 2.5x2.5 space, currently about 18 inches under a single QB running at 150w (at the wall). I know I'm at less than the preferred amount of light, but what the hell. Gives me a chance to see what this thing can really do. I have no expectations for this grow, other than to find out how well the QB does in a larger, more challenging space.

Honestly, I'll be happy to get 4 oz from my first run with this light, though I'm sure it's capable of more.

Just wanted to say my slate 2 triple showed up on Friday while I was out of town. Box was very well packed and did not look like anything out of the ordinary for the folks worried about being discrete.

My set up

2'x4'
HLG QB 304 3k x2
HLG Slate 2 Triple
Meanwell Hlg-320h-c1400b

Need to install the slate 2 triple and new driver on my next day off.

I want to see this. Start a new thread bro when you get started. It should be a cool set up and test,. I wish they would get some QBs back in stock.

Get 2 more boards and drive them all at 100 watts each. running them at max will work but why stress the board that hard when you can get more photons at the same power level?

Cobkits has some qb288 3000k and 4000k in stock
http://cobkits.com/product/qb288-quantum-board/
Cobkits is out-stocking the original sellers of QBs. Here's a great business plan; offer a product for sale then constantly be out of stock. And btw, if anyone was smart they'd have some drivers manufactured which work as well as Meanwells but are cheaper. How hard could that be? How elaborate would a driver need to be to produce light for plant growth rather than human eyes? My guess, not very. We've got everybody making LEDs but nobody making the drivers which cost as much or more. Bridge rectifier and a current regulator. How much could that cost to make?
