DIY with Quantum Boards

Cobkits is out-stocking the original sellers of QBs. Here's a great business plan; offer a product for sale then constantly be out of stock. And btw, if anyone was smart they'd have some drivers manufactured which work as well as Meanwells but are cheaper. How hard could that be? How elaborate would a driver need to be to produce light for plant growth rather than human eyes? My guess, not very. We've got everybody making LEDs but nobody making the drivers which cost as much or more.
You can buy a cheaper driver but it will be less efficient and less reliable. Both issues cost money, so how would it be saving you anything? Seems counterproductive in the face of the design goals of efficient and long lasting performance, especially when the money saved amounts to only a few dollars.

Why are you complaining about @CobKits having them in stock? You wanna buy some boards? Buy them! The things people find to complain about these days...

Dude someone definitely pissed in your cheerios this morning.

Your little tantrum is uncalled for. I simply letting another member know they can also grab the QB boards from him, and there is stock at the moment.

There is tons of cheap crappy drivers out there, and then there are those that come with UL certifications, 5 year warranties, dimming etc which come from respected companies such as mean well.

You should learn about supply and demand, it clearly is a great business model if they are constantly selling out.
Or look at mars hydro who probably has a warehouse with 100,000+ units collecting dust.

Hello everyone again looking for some confirmation of safety in a plan I have.

I have two single sized heatsinks in planning on connecting with 2 flat aluminum bars with some nuts and bolts.

If I also fix my driver across those aluminum bars I won't run into any conductivity problems will I?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Quick question!

I'm getting ready to get my hands (if i'm quick enough) on a 260w kit.

I assume you can chose spectrum, and correct me if i'm wrong but for flowering and perhaps some minor veg the best spectrum will be 3000k right?

But my main question is if I can choose the driver for this kits or when you buy them you get a specific one with the ideal mA, like 1.4mA or whatevs?

I mean, i saw what robin wrote before about most of the 304 3000k going to 260w kits with 1050mA but I was just wondering if you can choose.

As you can see I don't want to miss even a second to make the purchase and If I can choose I was wondering what the ideal mA will be, and if cant', then it doesn't matter hahaha.

Also I got confused since the video posted on the site showing the kit review showed the a 2100 driver

Can you hit me through pm if possible and you have the time? I don't want to muddy up this thread, plus there aren't many running the 550 and most guys here seem to grow in tents. We are looking to build a room of these.
Love em.

Penetration seems to be about 2-3 feet. If you grow a hedge you might need side lighting but the density and growth rate is better than my cxb3590s.

Great spread. Plug and play. Easy to use with great results.

I'm super pleased. Would reccomend and buy again if I didn't have other lights.
